Carson County officials are searching for a Lubbock couple last seen leaving Panhandle on Thursday.

According to the Carson County Sheriff’s Office, Linda Eppers Lightfoot, described as 5 feet 3 inches tall with gray hair and brown eyes, and Charles “Gary” Lightfoot, 5 feet 9 inches tall with gray hair and brown eyes, have not returned to their residence in Lubbock and have no cellphones or traceable devices.

Elderly couple missing since Thanksgiving afternoon

Carson County Sheriff’s Office is looking for an elderly couple who left Panhandle Thanksgiving day and did not make it to their home in Lubbock.

Family says the couple left Panhandle around 3 p.m. Their tags were seen in Groom around 7 p.m. and again in San Jon, N.M., around 9:30 p.m.

It’s only a 2 1/2 hour drive home from Panhandle. Both destinations noted in the article are not on the way home and are actually in opposite directions of each other.

A Silver Alert has been issued for Charles "Gary" Lightfoot (82) and his wife Linda (81) who went missing en route from Panhandle to Lubbock.

With that level of mileage they certainly would have needed to get gas at some point. Those country roads out in rural Texas can be confusing on a good day. There are stretches where you won't see anyone for miles and miles. I hope they are found soon.
