Same here. Have done it that way for years. I see no reason to bring keys to another country or state, what use are they there?

Jmo though.
My keys stay with me. Even when I drive home to Fla. they have a copy of my house keys and car keys. Oddly enough, I got triple A cause I was always loosing my keys. Since then.....10 years, not once.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the journalist who wrote the article didn't know that information was in there?

If that's true, then that means it could have been inserted during the fact checking/proofreading process?

Or is she not the one that wrote the article?
I don't think they do much fact checking anymore.

I just don't think that means she gave BB her phone. I think BB used a different phone, that belonged to her. Imo

Agree to Disagree!

Maybe BB was using her moms phone to field the calls because she didn't want to get bombarded with phone calls from the media. That's still using her phone though.

Thank you but I feel like my name has been sullied by channel 2. I also posted in a facebook group.

I also wonder if there is any truth in it? I mean where did that come from???

I officially believe in fake news. I just thought it was political news that was fake...not a murder case.
Not fake news, but a mistake that they’ve admitted and corrected. Mistakes happen when you’re rushing to be first to report the news. It’s not the first time, and certainly not the last that a media outlet has made a mistake.

ETA It’s not your mistake, and not your fault.

This wasn't just a landlord. This is a property management company. They have guidelines, contracts etc. Usually its 1 key per adult. Moo
It's usually one key per adult that's on the lease. Maybe she's not on the lease. Doesn't really matter I don't suppose. I lock my door every time I leave my house. I would for sure if I lived in the 5th ward of Houston.

I did not question her and then I thanked her like a fool. I was just thinking how my post had spread like wildfire. I am new and did not know what to do. Does this happen a lot or I am just really lucky?
Don't you worry. It happens. It sure had all of our brains thinking.

That's right. It brings an interesting thought. If his phone was gone, whoever dropped him off with the car was either already with him or it was prearranged where and what time if he had no phone to call anyone... If it is true it is their car which LE has stated I believe?
Or he ditched the phone sometime after that (but said he lost it during the "abduction").

That's false too? Or just that they obtained the phone records?

I wouldn't be surprised if the whole thing is an error because it doesn't make any sense.
This is the original post with the same linked article, now updated. No mention of BB phone in car.
New Info

Investigators obtain phone records of Maleah Davis' stepfather

"A recently uncovered warrant calls for the cellphone records of Maleah's mother, Brittany Bowens.

According to court documents, Bowens' phone was found in the family's abandoned car the night Maleah was reported missing.

That car was used to drop off Vence at the hospital after he said he was attacked and Maleah was kidnapped.

Police are trying to figure out which phone calls were made before Maleah's disappearance and who had access to the phone after the car left the hospital and was abandoned. "

Yes, I'm sure that's possible, too.
But I do think when they obtain the records for BB's phone, there will be plenty of communication between her and DV for them to sort out, as well as data tracking her movements.
I don't think she managed to fool them by using a different phone for certain communications. She is just not that clever. Imo

You did absolutely nothing wrong. We shouldn't have to validate a news story. And it's obvious they didn't. And hopefully it will be true soon.

Not fake news, just a really bad mistake on the reporter's part. Even the editors note is woefully inadequate.

I am guessing that Vence's phone was left in the car and somehow they (reporter) thought it was BB's.

Aw, you weren't a fool. If you wouldn't have posted it, somebody else would have. It was BOMBSHELL information.

Part of me wonders if they have the info but reported it too soon. I have a hard time believing someone pulled it out of their you-know-what.

Or it came from an unreliable source, and was flat out wrong.

But none of this is your fault. You posted a MSM article, which we usually trust, and they up and did a 180. It's their fault for not fact checking before blasting that info out to the world.

well she did go by the name Autumn Vence. According to MSM heavy article. Moo

In fact, what they did was downright negligent and irresponsible.

I am undecided about some things with the mother and understand all points of view but that article I read earlier and it was not in there, I saw only one for him. Then I see a post showing she had one that was found afterwards or so the link or headline said and I wondered, did I miss that about her and apparently everyone did because only he and the subpoena for his were being discussed. Now it is gone and a retraction issued?

She may have put herself in the media and brought some things on herself, but wow this really was unfair, I don't care who the person is.

I for months on end in every case remark how different media outlets have entirely conflicting stories, not just different stories, but alleged facts reported wrong or the exact opposite of others. This one though takes the cake.

That is not at you but really she is already disliked intensely and nationwide the web was going nuts most likely from FB to here. Some will never even know most likely that it was retracted.

It was a huge error and I find the timing of it extremely suspicious.

I also think that is nowhere near the public announcement and retraction they need to make.

This is not at you in any way. Had I seen an article with new info, I would have posted it as well and been very upset to find out I posted false info because of the news outlet.

I think the damage was done.

What an odd day. We were talking out of the blue earlier about his phone and whether he had one and I had thought from way back that I had heard it was found in the car... This is before the article about his subpoena even today...

Sometimes I wonder if things are put out there to stir things up between people and see what shakes out... More likely a big mistake though or something meant to get clicks which I am sure was accomplished...

Very strange o_O:confused:

I agree they got that specific info from somewhere. I am no fan of BB but that is bombshell news to report without fact checking.

Another article I don't think has been posted:

Investigators seize Derion Vence's cellphone records

For days, police searched for Vence’s missing car hoping to find evidence that would lead them to Maleah’s whereabouts.
The Altima was found on May 9 in Missouri City. When police looked through the car they did not find Maleah or Vence’s cellphone.

That's true. They found Brittany's phone. My head is spinning.

Maybe when BB found the photos, she took DV's phone and left hers with him so he couldn't contact the girlfriend while she was out of town. Therefore, being in possession of his phone, was able to show the photos to QX. DV left hers in the 'stolen' car.

Seems she would have turned that phone over to LE, since they were looking for her child. I mean, really. But, she still had it when QX came around. I bet he made her turn it over to LE.

Brittany has always claimed that she and her mother went to the apartment after she was picked up at the airport. The "wee hours" of the morning video seems to fit what she has claimed. I am glad to have that bit of information.

Lol that is the way it goes with AAA or towing insurance or any insurance. Do not have it, lose keys, need a tow, etc.;, have it and never need it. :)

I am never without our keys either. The only exception is a flight/trip. If traveling by car they are with of course. I guess we all vary and it depends on if someone is at home or stays home, whether you have a relative or trusted neighbor checking on the house and pets, etc., whether your in-laws live next door and how expensive it is to replace the keys if lost even. Some vehicle keys are a really big deal these days to get replaced.

I agree it was damaging...and it gave us something to post about tonight.
