A judge set bond at $125,000 for Charles Richard McDaniel, 54. If convicted of the 2nd Degree Felony, he could face 2-20 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.

The girl stated she'd go home from time to time and ask for money to give to the defendant so he could buy crack cocaine and marijuana. If she didn't give him money, the defendant would lock her in the shed

Interesting. And beyond concerning. Was no one in her home at all curious or worried about her whereabouts when she would disappear for long periods of time? Or did they know exactly where she was and who she was with and didn't feel.a 15 year old with an old man was at all inappropriate. How long has she not been attending school? I really hope this isn't a case where the parents were aware and were being compensated in some way.

I hope it is much closer to 20 years than just two years. Jmoo.

she'd been staying with him for about 3 months, some of that time locked in a shed but would go home from time to time to ask for money so she could give it to her captor/rapist? WTF did I just read?

What sort of home does this child come from where this can even happen?
In a Probable Cause Affidavit, Groves officer Steven Boudreaux says that he was told by the mother of the teen, that her daughter had been sexually assaulted by McDaniel after staying at his house and not wanting to return home for months.

For three months, the teen says that McDaniel gave her crack, marijuana, "whippets" and alcohol. Afterwards he would force her to have sex with him.

KFDM obtained a probable cause affidavit for McDaniel's arrest. According to the document, Groves Police were informed on November 30 that the teen had been staying with McDaniel for about three months. Police were told the teen was afraid to leave his home.

Trying to understand the details of how/why this child was allowed to live with a 54 year old man and who reported what was happening to her?

Was it her mother who reported the sexual assault? It sounds like she knew where her child was living, but states the child didn't want to come home? Really?!

I take it the child wasn't in school? Is that potentially what brought to light what was happening, truancy proceedings forced some action?
