James, 42 & grandmother Mary Jane Langdon, 66 in Houston on Nov 16, 2023 - *Tyler Chase Langdon (25/now 26) arrested (11/16/23) & charged (11/17/23) with capital murder (multi murder) & 2 counts of super aggravated sexual assault (child 6-14yrs) (1/11/24). 11/17/23: Probable cause hearing. Order-Granting mental-intelligence interview. Order-requested representation. Order-Financial affidavit filed. More disturbing details were revealed when a 25-year-old man accused of murdering his aunt & grandma in northwest Harris County appeared in probable cause court overnight. Tyler LNautaangdon is charged with capital murder (multi-murder). Officials cleared out the courtroom & brought him in alone when he appeared before the judge. This is unusual because suspects normally appear in probable cause court amongst other individuals accused of crimes. Deputies stood on each side of him during his appearance. It was revealed in court on Friday that Langdon is also accused of mutilating part of her body. Prosecutors said Langdon later confessed to killing his grandmother & aunt in an interview with investigators. Next preliminary hearing on 11/20/23 @ 9am. Langdon’s bond & bond conditions will be determined in Judge Josh Hill's courtroom.

While I understand that there is very little chance that this guy comes up with bond. I don't understand why they even went through the motions of reducing the bond. There is no amount of money that justifies letting this guy out of jail under any circumstance.

My question would be; why did they reduce his bond in March? I get that he is still probably unlikely to get bonded out but why bother with reducing / setting a bond? I think he was fine sitting in jail with no bond.

The court site doesn't give us the "why" they reduced his capital murder charge bond to $1M - so no idea, sorry! And I am surprised as this is Texas!!
