Two arrested in homicide of Marisela Botello Valadez

Dallas police have arrested Nina Marano and Lisa Dykes in the homicide of Marisela Botello Valadez.

The couple was located in January 2022 in Cambodia, then arrested on February 24, 2022, for an immigration violation. The couple was brought back to Dallas on May 24, 2022.

I just looked this morning for any court date for them - and there isn't one yet.

Two women accused in a murder case now face much-higher bail after authorities say they cut off their GPS monitors and fled to Cambodia after bonding out of custody last year.

State District Judge Amber Givens set bail at $4 million Wednesday for Lisa Jo Dykes, 59, and Nina Tamar Marano, 50.

Prosecutors asked the judge Wednesday to set the women’s bail at $5 million. Defense lawyers asked for $500,000 — the same bail the women previously had.

“It does not appear that the $500,000 and [electronic leg monitor] was sufficient to get your clients to appear in court and abide by the bond conditions,” Givens said as she issued her ruling.

Released (5/4/21) on bond & must wear ankle monitor. On 12/27/21 Bond held insufficient & bond not allowed. Warrant out for arrest; cut off ankle bracelet & has fled. Extradited back in Texas on 5/24/22.

12/27/21 Update: On Christmas morning, court documents reveal each of their (Marano & Dykes) GPS ankle monitors were disabled within four minutes of each other. The last known location was a South Good Latimer Expressway intersection in Dallas. Electronic monitoring officers called, texted & emailed the women, but they never responded, according to documents. New warrants are out for their arrests. If caught they’ll likely stay in jail until their case is resolved, but since their initial charges are murder, any punishment for fleeing pales in comparison to what they’re already facing. Per a Texas official that they have Warrants, APB’s & are Fugitives AGAIN! Bond held insufficient. Bond not allowed.
2/25/22 Update: Marano & Dykes have been taken into custody in Cambodia after they fled while out on bond. The FBI assisted law enforcement in Cambodia with taking the couple into custody. No further details were released about their arrest or how authorities tracked them down. They will be extradited to the U.S. to stand trial. 5/24/22 Update: Extradited back to Texas on 5/24/22. Hearing on 6/1/22.

Not as far as I can see on the Dallas Court site. But then it's a "hard" site to read. My guess they didn't - they would need $400K each to bail out.
