Socorro Police Department needs your help in reuniting Martha Gandara Arrieta with her family! Martha Gandara Arrieta was last seen yesterday wearing a red jacket, black pants, & brown sandals walking along North Loop between the streets of Moon & Rio Vista. Martha is about 4' 9" and approximately between 110-115 lbs. Martha suffers from dementia which can cause confusion and disorientation. Anyone with information on her whereabouts can call Socorro PD at 915-858-6984.

Socorro woman with dementia missing over 48 hours; family asks for help

It’s been over 48 hours since Martha Gandara Arrieta was last seen.
The search for Arrieta began Friday night - with family members, friends, and neighbors. The Socorro Police Department joined in on Saturday morning.
With the help of K-9’s, helicopters, and a search team, Arrieta’s scent was traced back to a Circle K gas station, located off of North Loop and Rio Vista in Socorro - but there are no other leads from there.

The gas station is nearly a mile away from the Socorro home, approximately a 20 minute walk.

“When you have dementia, you depend on other people to be safe. Most of the time she is pretty much living in her childhood. She’s confused and she doesn’t really know what’s going on,”

Socorro family asks for help in finding missing elderly woman with dementia

The gas station where dogs picked up her scent is nearly a mile away from the Socorro home, approximately a 20 minute walk. Family members didn’t think she had gone so far considering only 10 minutes passed when they realized she was missing.

“The dogs and the drones have gone through all of the areas. The canals, the areas with brush, the desert areas to see if maybe she had fallen or gotten dehydrated since the weather has been so hot,” said her granddaughter.

Unfortunately, police haven’t been able to trace the scent any further, and the Circle K gas station only has video surveillance inside of the store.

El Paso County Sheriff's Office believes body found in Socorro missing elderly woman

WAITING CONFIRMATION
A body found in an irrigation ditch Tuesday in Socorro is believed to be an elderly woman reported missing last week, according to El Paso County Sheriff's Office.
The sheriff's office's Major Crimes Unit was called to the 10000 block of Ron Road by Socorro Police Department in reference to an unattended death. The woman was found in an irrigation ditch that runs between several residences.

How sad for Martha, and for her family. RIP Martha. I'm glad that you were found so that you can return to your family, although I wish she had been found alive.

The body of an 89-year-old woman, who went missing from her home Friday (May 1), was found in an irrigation ditch in a Socorro neighborhood in Texas, on Tuesday (May 5).
The woman, identified as Martha Gandara Arrieta, who suffered from dementia, wandered off from her home Friday.

Article 2
According to a release, Sheriff Detectives and Crime Scene officers arrived and discovered an elderly deceased female in an irrigation ditch.

Investigators have identified the woman as 89-year-old Martha Gandara Arrieta.
