This is certainly an interesting article today on KXAN that reminded me of Martin:

An Austin woman went out to Rainey Street with her friends on Sunday and within a matter of hours, she said her behavior became abnormal and she was ultimately incapacitated. She was hospitalized afterward and believes that her condition was caused by being drugged while she was out on Rainey Street.

Not having 1st hand knowledge regarding this case I will not say outright that I don't believe this woman's story but....... I have read the now viral facebook posting this anonymous person supposedly made while she was still in the ED and the story just sounds off. She was at a table with her friends and her boyfriend. None of them ever left the table and the drinks where at no time left unattended. She, after drinking a couple of sips of her cocktail, became "woozy" telling her boyfriend who was standing with her the entire time that she must have been drugged. So they get in an Uber car and call 911. You can hear her screaming in the background while he is on the line with dispatch saying that his girlfriend must have been drugged. She admits that they did not find anything in the tox screen but that further tests needed to be done. After the initial posting and the story being in the news for a day, she removes the posting from the net for "privacy" reasons despite initially stating that she wanted to share her story so that others would be more aware and possibly prevent them from being drugged on Rainey. Despite the fact that the post was made anonymously and no one but her boyfriend, her friends and hospital ED staff knew who she was. APD has made no comments about the incident and it has not been mentioned in the local news again.

I am in no way saying that people are not being drugged at bars or that this is not a problem. Because it is. I saw it when I worked in an ED. You have the ED doctor in this article saying that she sees at least a case a month where it happens. But this particular story just sounds off.

Missing 21-year-old man found alive, in "very rough condition" - Christian Pugh, 25

Last year around this time, a similar incident happened on Rainey (Street). 25-year-old Martin Gutierrez was reported missing after going to the popular bar district. Crews spent days searching for him, eventually finding his body in the lake near the hike and bike trail.

I’ve had the feeling for a few years that something isn’t right with all the body’s turning up in lady bird lake. The fact they all were last seen walking alone from rainey street is another pattern. A lot of the friends of the missing notes erratic or abnormal behavior.

A local doctor noted a trend of people her and her colleagues have treated recently displaying the same behavior and all coming from rainey street specifically.

I’m trying to find a trend in particular bars this may be happening at. Does anyone have any leads or ideas?

Also I want to know if anyone has gotten Christian Pugh’s story….after all he was found alive but in terrible condition.

I feel like there is some kind of serial killer in their early stages….

Please give any info or insight. I live in Austin and this is so disturbing to me.

You might want to start by reading this thread. That article you posted is from the year this thread was started - 2019. And, it was posted here and discussed when it was written. I gave my opinion on it just 3 post above your post. Not trying to be rude but no need to reinvent the wheel. For more recent info and discussion regarding the men turning up in Town Lake/Lady Bird Lake and the possibility of an Austin serial killer you might consider joining the Facebook page Lady Bird Lake Serial Killer/ Rainey St Killer . I know that Martin's sister-in-law Whitney Rutz contributes to the page and has posted some very interesting first hand information. Plus, it is up to date and not 4 years old like this thread.
Also, as far as Christian Pugh, his family has been tight lipped about his story for his privacy but they believe he was drugged. His father Christopher Pugh spoke on his behalf along with family members of some of the other men at last week's Austin City Council meeting.
