We know there was a drop in the finances, what is not known is how much issue this would have caused within that amount of time. People are often wrong and make assumptions because that is what we have to work with. Its trying to come up with plausible theories or ideas. I certainly don't know how much is correct, and how much is only through word of one person to another. We have had things change here constantly. I certainly don't think this changes a lot in the way things are being looked at. I understand the need to be concerned about financial change; however you have also got to think everything else has been cut down in half too. Instead of paying bills and living expenses for two, you are paying for one. I think if people stopped trying to figure out things, the how's or why's we wouldn't have much need to be here. We would only read the articles about the missing people, cold cases etc. This stuff changes everyday. IMO

I'm not understanding a drop in income. His checks were deposited into their joint checking account. She sold his truck and the Mustang, so that's a chunk of change there. She's still working, and probably has less in the way of utilities and groceries since there's one less person at home obviously. So what drop in income? I'm not getting that. Looks like she's the opposite and sitting on a nice bank roll.

What would happen if she is the beneficiary of the drop account and the pension fund? Lump sum pmts of monthly payouts? Does anyone know?

Pmerle: I imagine that you know your Papaw is so very proud of you for so many reasons. Coming here to help find him is yet another reason. The love you have for your Papaw is beautiful to see. Prayers for you and yours.

I'm sorry if I've missed something about the finances, but is it income or money in a bank account(s)? Could someone gamble in excess, etc? Prayers for Pawpaw and his family.

BC is the beneficiary of both, and there are no lump sum payments. BC continues to receive a monthly pension as long as she lives and will receive a monthly annuity payment (DROP account) based on her life expectancy.

One would think financial issues would be easier with one vs two but.....she is now paying rent for a house (unless she's living w/ someone), she is paying for the homestead to be maintained, the cars, her own vehicle. Did she make money on the pickup or was it sold as a wash? Money is no longer coming in on MC's side jobs. She is 60 some odd years old. So, there may be a small need to worry. I am sure she is having to pay for professional advice.

Money issues are one of my big bugaboos. I worry more than my husband. If something were to happen
to him, I would do everything possible to lower the amount of money going out.

And as far as her "cushy" life goes, she's raised two boys, worked (and continues to do so) full time. My adult boys finally realize that the money Dad makes/made is not his money but ours. I gave up a wonderful career to stay home and raise them. It wasn't easy but we agreed that since he made more money than I did (even though I had a better retirement package) I would stay home with the kids. It is a decision I do not regret. So, I cringe a bit when someone believes a mother's job is cushy. There is no age limit when responsibilities to your children ends. The fact of the matter is, it never does.

And the dang car?! It was hers to sell. Even one of her son's stated MC gave it to her as a birthday gift. So what business is it of the family's or anyone else's for that matter, what she does with the car?

I don't know if this woman is involved with MC's disappearance and I hope she is not. I'm sure living near all the in laws is not a treat right now either. They are a formidable group. Keeping everyone happy is a balancing act and
sometimes it's best not to worry about everyone else and worry about yourself.

I am a stay at home mom due to having two special needs sons, I was the breadwinner in my house always, until my boys actually got a little older *usually its the other way around). We have one car, to eliminate additional money going out for payments and insurance and upkeep. We did make changes, however for us, we took one step at a time. We didn't want to act hasty and panic over my job loss. ( my oldest has Down Syndrome) Medical issues required me to take off with him for two surgeries and then I had an emergency back surgery, so we went through a lot. Still do.

I have no idea what their finances were like, I have no clue if the extra money he made was money he worked for, to help cover the expenses of his car hobby or what. The feeling I have had all along is it is a family member no one expects it to be. (Personally) But with this case, there are way too many things that are contradicted. KWIM. So, I have absolutely no clue. As I think it was you, who eluded to it a few pages back. There is so much, I'm not so sure what is what anymore really. So, I'm trying my best to just keep up with the every changing info. Rather I should say it is IMO, things change often and sometimes by the same people. Ughh!

MC, as you know, was a Dallas Fireman. I'm not sure your aware but their pension amounts have dropped big time due to some committee with the city that made some bad decisions. At one point it looked like they would loose it all.

It's sad. It's sad that a lot of city, state and government jobs are going after pensions people worked so hard for. I'm not from anywhere around there but here in KY, they are doing that to educators. Half of our local school board employees including the superintendent left before the end of the year. I am part of the group here in our county. That interviews and hires, administrators, teachers and staff. I don't get paid but, we had tons walking out due to the way the state was going to penalize their retirement. I had interviewing amd hiring as a full time job for half the summer.

It is sad though!

Yes. Have a both a DFD firefighter, and a retired one explain it in depth. lol I thought my head was going to explode.

Just a regular home health care nurse. Not sure on the level of LVN, though. She doesn't specialize in any certain thing. Just whatever is going on with patients. Been licensed since the 70s.

Folks, I think there has to be two Mustangs. If the will was written years ago, and includes a Mustang, and if BC just rec'd the birthday present Mustang in 2016, well the BC Mustang wouldn't have been around to have been written in the will, right?

The only other way I can see it being the same is if Papaw bought BC's gift prior to the will being written and it took that long for him to restore and give it to her.

I fully admit this is MOO.
Our VI hasn't been here in a long time to answer questions. I hope that she is doing okay. I know she has a ton on her plate.

MC gave her the gift this year. January.
MC had a mustang in 2009 that he had completely stripped. I can't remember if it still had motor or not. It sat for a long time. Don't quote me but the mustang from 2009 has been sold.

Seeing his signature was so sad. And yes, hers was overly cheerful. I guess she was happy about what she was signing off on.

BC has always has always had a big signature. She's always been that way. At least the 28 years I've known her.

So BC doesn't have to pay to maintain those vehicles then? They aren't an expense she needs to worry about?
