Is IS a good idea, and one can only hope...

However, the reason I doubt increasing the reward would make much difference ( and this is strictly my opinion only, ) is because the one/ones who know what happened to PaPaw are not about to come forward for any reason.

Even those who may be aware from just a peripheral viewpoint, ( not involved ) would have to know too they would immediately be suspected of being the leak.

I would imagine the fear of retribution from the one/ones responsible would motivate their actions far more than any sum of reward money.

That's all just my opinion. I would be more than happy to be wrong though.

Not meaning to point fingers at anyone either. This is just the general feeling I have about this case from watching it unfold over the past year....

I concur with what you said, JazzTune. Some time ago, I read an article re: rewards, and that it's generally thought they are fairly ineffective in the use of solving cases. So often, it seems rewards end up not being distributed. I think of Abby and Libby, where there's a very large reward , among others. I do remember way back when the Unabomber case was concluded, that one million dollar reward WAS given to his own brother, but as I recall, that money had nothing to do with Ted K.'s brother turning him in, and he gave most of it away to causes he believes in.

There was the one guy who looked to capture the reward. He was put in jail. Can't even recall his name. Anyone know if he's still incarcerated?

BD. He’s out on bond, and has a court date soon, I believe. Personal opinion is that the guy actually knows something.

Hey, have I been living under a rock? Did I miss it? Did everyone else know that Thread # 1 is back and available to be read again?

On a whim, I checked the first page of this thread and saw the link for it. Held my breath, clicked it and there it was! Can't wait to read it again to see what jumps out at me all these months later...

Here's the link too if someone else missed it like I did...

( My apologies if this information was previously posted...)

I can't recall but did he lead investigators anywhere and if so, where?

If I remember correctly, I thought he led police to one property that they searched, but nothing was found.

Agree. I have a feeling he may have been "cougared" into this. We shall see...

Interesting how some "new" technology allowed LE to pinpoint the exact location of the Austin bomber once they knew his phone number. Apparently they also have the location data for everywhere he had traveled recently. While extremely intrusive to our private lives and possibly a violation of some constitutional rights IMO, this could prove invaluable when trying to locate missing persons. If I understand correctly, ping data previously mentioned in this case only gave a "radius" in which to locate MC's device, but this "new" method gave exact location data for the bomber. Food for thought. Praying for Papaw and his family.

This would be an interesting topic for someone to do some research on. It is my understanding that there has to be a significant public safety risk to allow for that technology to be used, although it may vary by state.

My heart flutters when I see new posts on Papaws thread.

Surely it won't be much longer 'til someone shares truthful & solid info regarding his disappearance.

And mine too, Hazelnutty! You hang in there, honey. We'll see that justice is done for Papaw yet!

The technology definitely exists. I have a close family member in state law enforcement here in Texas that works with this very thing. Unfortunately, the local agencies have to request the assistance with it. And that’s where HCSO dropped the ball. There was only a small window of opportunity to get said information before the wife had the phone service disconnected/suspended, and only a few short weeks after that before Apple (per their data retention policy) purged it from existence. Personally, insisting on getting this information would have been one of the FIRST things that I did had this been my spouse. However, the spouse involved chose different routes, and here we are. Still waiting for someone to break.

What do you mean by "cougared"?

When MC's disappearance became known, it seems to me that BC knew why he was missing and that he wouldn't be returning.
1). Did she plan a "hit" of sorts?
2). Did someone else plan a hit?
3). Did she know of unresolved conflict
between MC and someone else and assumed the worst?
4). Did MC leave BC a note, stating he wouldn't be returning.

How was she able to convince a judge to sign off on a death certificate? There had to be proof of some kind.

Why did Sheriff M. imply in the first press conference that MC may have drawn (I'm paraphrasing) the trouble somewhere else away from BC so she wouldn't be harmed.

Just what do all these people know that no one else knows about?

I'm beginning to think that perhaps they do know what happened to MC but don't have enough evidence to present a case to the DA. What they may be waiting on is finding MC's body. That may hold the key to the reason and cause of his disappearance.

All really good questions. And personally, I think BC knows exactly what happened. And the good Sheriff, too. Just MHO.

To find his body someone would need to look for it first.

Ok. I think I get it. The term "cougar" threw me because...men and/or women over 59 seeking younger prey, are referred to as "Turkey buzzards".
Ouch! [emoji884][emoji16]
