SM’s bombshell about MC’s possible suicide bike ride makes me think the ID show will deliver new info-maybe not much-but something made SM put his theory out there so soon after the show taped. Maybe he was getting ahead of their story. At this point I’m suspicious of everything.

My guess is he's been getting a lot of hate from the public about the way they've handled MC's case. So he came up with this ridiculous story to explain why they haven't treated it as a criminal investigation. Unfortunately he isn't that good of a story teller IMO.

Truth is stranger than fiction but SM underestimated his audience.

Could the phone been traveling by a guy paddling a boat?
Ohhh.. I like that idea !! Ive been straining my brain with 4-wheelers, golf cart, etc..but did not think of a boat !! I am just catching up in here and finally was able to watch the complete Crimewatch show. Meeks is an idiot..sorry, I dont mean to offend anyone here but that's my opinion. I also had to chuckle at the part when asked about changing it from Missing person investigation to Homicide investigation and Police said, um, yes....really ???? My sarcastic sense of humor yelled at my laptop...well, yeah you better say Homicide because you all already issued a death cert. OMG
Ok.. vent over. Carry on #

I hope the ID show has some new info but I have my doubts as they were taping in Feb.I haven't watched a lot of of episodes of disappeared but the ones I have watched on cases I'm familiar with seem to be pretty basic info already known just to spread the word to more people about the missing person.
That could well be. Even though this case has gotten more publicity than many others, there are still millions who are not aware. Here's hoping there is at least one person out there who sees the program on ID next week who might recall or have even a tiny tidbit of info that will bring Papaw home.

The boat theory is more sensible than the bike theory in many respects. The biggest problem with it would be how someone could have managed to get MC from another vehicle into a boat, unseen ( though certainly possible with a secluded area, but pretty chancy in risking another boater crossing his path). If a killer got MC into a vehicle, why would he/she/they take that risk instead of just driving MC a long ways away?

There's that very pesky question re: that darn phone and it's data.... Can't wait to hear the Klein investigators take on that.

I was running errands and got behind a bull dozer. I took my foot off the gas at times and pretty much rolled behind it when it occurred to me if there’s anything to ping speed that heavy equipment is the only thing that moves slower than slow and wouldn’t have stuck out during the construction of the bridge in this area. I’m not suggesting MC was in a bull dozer but his phone could’ve been.

This is one of the most plausible ideas out there yet. And that is not something people normally notice as out of the ordinary when it’s going slow.

Any road construction workers close to the case?

I know- it's a rhetorical question. Don't respond with they can't be sleuthed. It's just a "wonder".

Agreed. His phone could’ve been in a bulldozer, a boat, whatever. Doesn’t mean MC was there too.

Well if that was his plan, it backfired because the level of hate then was nothing compared to what it is now. He just made it worse with those ridiculous interviews.

I'm sitting here, trying to come up with something to refresh the discussion here, hating to see MC's case on page 6. Unfortunately, my mind is one big blank and I can't think of some new way to jumpstart some new angle, or come up with fresh eyes on old info. :( Bump for Papaw!

I’m excited to see how Disappeared approaches BC’s absence in the search for MC, if suicide is on their radar and if they investigate the death certificate.
Something lit a fire under SM to put his suicide theory out there. Disappeared may not do much to contradict it but I do hope they somehow call out HCSO for leaving the investigation to private investigators and MC’s family, who shouldn’t have to pay someone to do what HCSO should do.

I have wondered if their lack of investigation in doing things like getting a phone expert to analyze MC ping data and correctly testing the blood evidence could have been not having or wanting to spend the money. I can well imagine them not correctly budgeting sufficiently for crime analysis.

I was thinking, what if they (the family) were to send the blood pictures to a well known blood spatter analyst? And any phone data to a well known analyst? That may be more cost effective than guessing what the splatter shows or guessing about phone movement. I still like Haines.
His replies are more in line with what I would expect from a detective.

Am looking forward to the ID channel
production on Sunday.

Or mowing equip.? Or with a rider on horseback? I don't know. There's something about this case that's stunk from the start, IMO. Some of those involved have helped add some clarity, and not always in favor of some of them, IMO. I remain hopeful that Papaw will be found and justice served to those deserving of it, no matter how long that takes.

ETA: Or a tractor? Farming implement? Would that be planting time?

I'm jumping off your post and using your idea to say: That's possible, but if that's the case, why in the world wouldn't the Sheriff's Dept. ask for help? Why did they respond the way they did back then? I think a lot of the posters were right way back then. It's very interesting to go back and reread, IMO.

Have to say, this by far makes the most sense!!! Hands down! you may be onto something here...

But nobody drives a bulldover for miles. They load it on the back of a trailer and take it to the construction site.

I think they may have thought they had it nailed right away per direction from BC.

And maybe being "close" to the family
kept SM from doing due diligence. And I do think money is probably an issue.

And....., it is quite possible about the elephant in the room. Waiting to hear more from Klein too.
