Rains County Sheriff Facebook:

Attention Rains County:

We very urgently need your help. We have a missing non-verbal autistic 5 year old. He is 4 foot tall with a slim build.

His name is Miguel and he responds to Megs. He will be wearing a light blue shirt with Dr. Seuss characters on it and nothing else. If you try to approach he will try to fight you, unless you say “ nice hands” or “hugs and kisses”

If you spot Megs call 911 immediately.

UPDATE

At this time we are asking that the public not assist in the actual search on ground. Tracking dogs have been brought in and the scent will be harder to find with the added foot traffic.

Comments on the sheriff's FB page are not good. It sounds like there will most likely be a sad and tragic outcome.

No no no….not another autistic babe in a pond. My heart hurts. What is it with autistic children and drunk, often younger men, that feel this siren call to water? We need more research done.
