Kristen is believed to have been bound with duct tape, beaten and stabbed to death. Only parts of her skull were recovered in 2020. Her limbs, lower body and part of her skull have never been found.

The decedent was recognized from the reconstruction by her mother after she saw it in 2022. It fully served its purpose, and did so very well. The anthropology work was all correct too (Hispanic teenaged female, probable homicide victim). The only incorrect forensic analysis here was the post-mortem interval of 3 months estimated vs 1 month in reality, but that is very close IMO.

The fact that investigators refused to follow up on her mother’s concerns (or make the very obvious potential comparison on their own in the interceding previous year) was the problem at play and entirely unrelated.
