Thank you. I thought I read something like that weeks ago but wasn't sure.

So apparently they both saw other people. I don't see how CS could have known Kaitlin was capable of murder. I haven't seen anything in this case to suggest she was violent or even aggressive leading up to the murder.
That information comes from CS though. And he had not told the truth at all times.
While I agree that he is not a sympathetic character certainly he could not have foreseen the murder.

True. But then CS himself, the person that KA trusted to be faithful to her, was the one who set things in motion, which has left KA's life in shards.

Respectfully, I tend to disagree with it. Killing another woman and escaping to Costa Rica using her sister’s passport was KA’s undoing. CS was the epitome of neither honesty nor loyalty. But KA had so many chances to end this relationship in a quiet, dignified way, or even less so, given the abundance of social media both elite athletes used. Instead, she chose murder.

I am not against CS or trying to make him guilty, however.....denial is a very LARGE coping mechanism. He just may be in denial of KA's real personality. Probably is dealing with much guilt.
Agree, I thought that he is distancing himself ... if he knew KA was focused on MW (spying on his phone, following her on social media) and was capable of doing something terrible, then that puts some blame on him for doing something to prevent it.

I very much doubt that he suspected that based on the lies he told KA that evening. If he knew she was spying on them he would not have done that IMO.

Any word on other camera footage of KA’s vehicle the day of MW’s murder? I would like to know if they checked for its presence around the Deep Eddy pool.

KA’s Jeep was discovered to have been sold to a CarMax dealership. Does anyone know if the Jeep was recovered, and if it was brought in as evidence? It may have a UConnect GPS module, but we discussed earlier that telematics may not be of value, as potentially compromised by chain of custody issues.

Cofer is saying that KA was taken into custody in handcuffs among much more. If you look at this photo of KA being interviewed, she is sitting there, not handcuffed and a bottle of water on the table that looks like it was given to her…a much different picture of what Cofer is suggesting.

I don't think he thought KA was following them that night, but he did say in his police interview that he changed MW contact information in his phone to a different name, and deleted messages between them because KA was looking in his phone and that KA had called MW at one point. I think consciously or unconsciously he is distancing himself from thinking she was capable.

When she was first brought into the room, her hands were cuffed behind her back. I'm not sure if they were removed immediately, or only after the detective believed the warrant was invalid and so she was no longer "under arrest".

A few new motions were filed recently. One filed today was an application for subpoena from the state for Rick Cofer. Also, yesterday looks like the defense filed a motion to prohibit prejudicial comment to media.

Odd that the defense issued a subpoena for one of the prosecutors and the State issued one for Cofer. Tomorrow’s hearing will be interesting.

In the transcript of the interview that someone posted earlier on this thread, when the LE interrogator tells KA that there has been a mistake with the warrant, the transcript says that KA replied "so I was handcuffed and brought here for nothing?" Something to that effect, although definitely she asks why then was she handcuffed.

So I don't think it is her attorney making this up, it's in the transcript. Legitimate issue, IMO. Handcuffed for a botox theft of $650 seems rather extreme.

I have no doubt she was handcuffed when arrested and transported to the police station. That is just policy. When you get arrested, you get cuffed. For many defendants, it really isn't necessary. But generally it is policy to ensure everyone gets treated the same. And it wouldn't be unusual for her to be cuffed when led into the interview room and then the cuffs taken off.

I think that KA almost certainly did kill Mo, but we should bear in mind that she hasn't yet been found guilty, shouldn't we.

This case is taking an unexpected turn, IMO. @Mrspratcher & others who work in law - are you surprised? Thanks for your input, just questioning myself and acknowledging my ignorance on legal process!

Edit to add:
Am I the only one who read CS' description of the "disappointing" way KA hand-tightened a brake rotor on her bike... and thought... I am wayyyyy more "mechanically inept" than that hand-tightened brake motor move. totally unrelated to the case but I did question my own mechanical aptitude if that is inept!!!

^^rsbm

Lol -- my take was CS was really upset that he'd wasted so much time "being patient" with this woman that served to drag him down -- both on the trail and in life -- and when he realized she hadn't learned what he deemed the most basic task to tighten the brake -- he lost it!

We know CS was ready long ago to move on but "inertia" held him back -- it wasn't convenient to break up. MOO

Exactly - it is clear he didn't know - that is why he sent a text lying about where he had been!

Not surprised. Defense is working OT to create reasonable doubt. I foresee many more surprises along the way.

Looks like KA won’t appear in court tomorrow.
Hearing on 8/24/22 @0900 Texas time

Also unsure if the hearing will be live-streamed, but here are links to the court livestreams:

Thanks for the links. The youtube link is now live with everyone waiting for KA to arrive at the courthouse. Apparently the virtual equipment didn't work at the jail, so they now are bringing KA in to the court in person so that she is present for the hearing. They are waiting for her to arrive.
