Kaitlin Armstrong Afternoon Thread
This morning, the court heard from Detective Daniel Portnoy, who detailed the forensic investigation into Armstrong, Strickland and Wilson's electronic devices.
I'll pick up my live tweeting today with the first witness following lunch: Brandi Standfield, DA's office, Digital Forensic Unit.We are looking at pictures that have been introduced into evidence. The first photo shows Kaitlin Armstrong with a firearm posted to IG.
The next photo is a log of names and dates of those who have signed into a gun range. The name "Allison Paige" is listed. The next photo is a closeup that shows scarring around a hairline. Next is a photo of Kaitlin with a bandage across her lips and nose.
The next photo is another picture of Kaitlin. Her hair is a lighter shade of reddish brown and there is a bandage around her nose. She is looking directly at the camera. The date is 6/24/22. More photos with various profiles of her nose and the bandages. These were taken on 6/26.
These are all selfies with her looking directly at the camera. You can see a trace of blood inside of her nostrils. The base of her nose is red and swollen. Her face glistens in the profile shot. In one picture, it appears as if her lower lip is also swollen. She has bruising around her eyes.
Now looking at a Forensic Examination Report. Generated Jan. 5, 2023. We are looking at messages pulled from a WhatsApp extraction. There are 54 messages in the conversation. It is in Spanish, with a translation in English. It is an inquiry into rhinoplasty surgery.
There is an initial inquiry from a WhatsApp user by the alias "Arie" and then following conversations about price and doctor's location. The date shows 6/7/22."Arie" is incredibly motivated to get the surgery done, insisting on selecting a date for the initial consultation as a day that the surgery room is also available to perform the procedure. Arie's mind is made up. The name given to the doctor is "Arie Roberts.”
No further questions.
-- Defense's turn:
Defense reexamines the photo of Armstrong holding a gun which was posted on IG. Shows it to jury. Several other accounts are tagged. Defense asks if it appears as if this is a screenshot of someone else's story. Defense declaring that IG photos can be posted well after the date they were actually taken.
No further questions, next witness.
