For all we know, KA and CS may have been up half the night having a heated argument after KA returned from murdering Mo. KA could have begun accusing CS of lying about taking flowers to a friend and demanding to know where he spent his evening.
Following that kind of evening, I could see CS not wanting to recall the beautiful racer when first approached -- especially if KA was within earshot.
Also, I suspect that at the time CS denied he knew MW, he was unaware that she was deceased. I think he probably learned this after he arrived APD police station that morning, and from that point on, CS was nothing but cooperative. MOO
GREAT post.
I, too, have been wondering about how this evening played out. Based on what we know, I imagine it went similary to how you've described it, JMO. Other option is that they (both hiding lies) smiled and watched a movie and said very little. Somehow, this seems less likely.
If it was the heated-argument scenario, it disturbs me to wonder what weird satisfaction KA might have been getting every time CS denied knowing MW, defended his flowers, and mainly just clearly wasn't yet aware that MW was gone and he would soon grieve. Imagining KA poking him to get that satisfaction is beyond horrifying to me, but I think since she didn't turn the gun on him, that must have been her only moment of satisfaction, power, and control in this. JMO.
Which, if so, confirms to me that he was lying when he said she was the "least volatile person" he'd ever met. I think that was a lie intended to make him seem not so freaking stupid, for treating her like trash and then buying her guns. JMO. If a person did that for someone known to be volatile or have a history of gun violence, maybe they legally would have some culpability? (not an attorney!)
I think, CS and MW simply never expected the messy, emotional situation they signed up for to turn criminally tragic. JMO. I do think that CS, having more experience than MW in messy emotional relationships, had a responsibility to protect MW. JMO again, as always.
Agree it's very interesting to see everyone's take on CS' culpability - great point, thanks for pointing that fun part out,
