KA is a controlling opportunist. Thinking about her training hard in the yard just before her orthopedic appointment where she ran for nearly 30 minutes w/o breaking a sweat!...

IMO, she also manipulated a volunteer jail staffer to testify on her behalf during the sentencing phase and I see her using this in an effort to secure her prison housing for better privileges than a lifer should receive. MOO

The G4-Faith Based Row is an off-shoot of the very successful Faith-Based Dorm program that is being implemented at units across the state. The difference in this program is in the classification of the offenders that participate. G4 offenders are classified as medium custody because of behavioral problems, and as a result, live with certain restrictions. A G4 offender wrote "If you can't act right in society, you go to prison. If you can't act right in prison, you go to medium custody."

Through the innovative efforts of Warden Vernon Pittman of the Wynne Unit, his staff, and some very dedicated and motivated volunteers, a row in the medium custody wing on the Wynne Unit became a faith-based row and lives began to change. The G4 offenders began to meet with offenders in the Faith-Based Dorm each week in Life Change Groups.
She may not have broken a sweat when she ran but I will bet 1 dozen donuts she breaks a sweat this summer in her new digs. Texas prisons are not air conditioned for inmates, with the exception of medical areas, and areas where high risk heat affected inmates are housed. Some inmates can purchase a fan but if your cell (if you have a cell and not a dorm) isn't wired for extra electricity...no fan for you. It is hot, hot, hot in those concrete buildings and summers here lately have been brutal. KA is not going to enjoy being incarcerated in any Texas prison housing women. She's not going to enjoy using toilet water to cool off or burning her rear on the stainless steel toilet. She may be thinking it won't be so bad because right now she's in the Travis County jail and it is air conditioned and relatively comfortable (as jails go..I knew a jailer that worked there) but when she has to get up at 4:30am for breakfast and walk to get it even if it's raining, and then go back and maybe go to a job (if she gets one) and then go back to her little area she's going to miss those days of freedom she used to have. Then she has to awaken the next day and do it all over again. There is no botox in prison. It's not on the commissary list. She will have to age naturally with no injections to give her apple cheeks. 30+ years of that (she's not going to get parole the 1st or even 2nd time she comes up for it), never going beyond the fence. 30+ years of noise, heat, cold, watching your back and your possessions, constantly having to keep her place in the "pecking order", no social media, no privacy. She better be awfully good at meditation if she's going to meditate in such a chaotic atmosphere. She may have thought that going to prison would be worth killing Mo, and she may still think it was worth it but I think she may change her mind later on. She deserves every minute and we deserve to not have her in society.

This summer in Austin broke me and that's with a perfectly good AC. 100F+ for months on end is the new normal and you're absolutely right about the suffering she will have to endure. All of her own making.

I don't remember reading about this in any of the trial tweets (the use of and objection to the expletive).

On the stand, [JC] described a post-race party in Bentonville, Arkansas, in January 2022, where she and Armstrong shared a drink. At the party, Armstrong told [JC] that she’d found out Strickland had pursued an intimate relationship with Wilson a few months prior—and that Armstrong and Strickland had been broken up when it occurred.

[JC] also told the court that Armstrong said she’d wanted to “[f---ing] kill” Wilson. That testimony prompted an immediate interjection from Armstrong’s defense attorney. There was a brief debate over whether Armstrong used the expletive or not. [JC] maintained Armstrong had used the word. Judge Kennedy was visibly fighting back laughter.

KVUE reported on both friends testimony on Wed but also left out the drama!

Comprehensive Recap of Kaitlin Armstrong by
@JessicaTaylorTX
Thank you Jessica for asking the questions we all had and for your outstanding coverage. We all had this question: Why Kaitlin Armstrong is eligible for parole?

Here is the answer Thoughts?

Jose Garza's Office (DA) has come out as a progressive office from the get-go that is trying to push back on this mass incarceration that's plaguing our state," "They didn't seek capital murder, that could've had automatic life, even if they didn't seek the death penalty."

It really makes you wonder what happened to KA? I can't fathom her entitlement - thinking she is owner of CS, and thoughts of how dare anyone (MW) be with "her man" is beyond belief.

He never was her man, imo. I dont believe he would have stayed with KA, even if she had not murdered MW. He just wasn't that into her (it happens) to all of us.

In the end, it doesn't really matter, she did what she did, it's weird though her frame of mind and wanting the control. Control the finances, control CS, control it all.

That way, she doesn't have to look at herself, and doesn't have to control what she really can control only, which is KA! She lost it instead! KA lost control, and will never learn how to control herself and gain some self-worth. moo

I wonder if the heat in a prison may bother her. Remember that she is athletic, and athletes exercise and sweat in all seasons. She also visited climates like Costa Rica that are very warm and humid. Maybe not 100 degrees, but up there. Either way, I hope she’s miserable. And given Colin’s athleticism and such, I feel like he wouldn’t have had AC in his home, probably dissing it as bad for the environment.

I honestly don’t know what prison life is like for women and I imagine it varies from place to place. Will she be in what’s considered a maximum security place? Do they have time to read in a library with others, or is most time spent in a cell? I honestly have no idea. My knowledge is limited to the show Orange is the New Black!

I think incarceration in a quiet way would be one thing to deal with, but then factor in gangs, cliques, fights, other inmates tougher than you, I just can’t imagine.

The $10,000 fine is curious to me. Someone said here, I think, that inmates can’t earn money in jail? So no commissary perks? I’m not sure. Let’s say she is eligible for parole in 30 but can’t pay her $10k And let’s say no family or friends are available to help out with the financials then. Would that keep her incarcerated? It just seems like the monetary fine is a bit weird to me…

I believe the Court will have a judgement against KA. The $10K is not restitution but a fine. Since she hired a private attorney for this case, I think the court believes she has assets. If I recall correctly, she transferred her two rentals into the names of her sister and mother.

More:

ETA: The fine is by State statute..

Our criminal justice system provides for the government to take property (real and personal) from individuals in a number of ways. For instance, monetary fines are established by statute as punishment alongside periods of incarceration. There are also forfeiture laws, which allow the taking of property even before any conviction has occurred.

Also I’ve always thought just because she may have “owned” a few rental properties, it doesn’t mean she had any, or much, equity. She probably had mortgages on them, taxes and insurance and repairs, etc. That one form we saw posted here showed her self reported income as $500 a month. That’s pauper level.

Assignments (administrative segregation, general population level, etc) are based on the individual’s specific needs, which is determined during the intake process and depends on the crime they committed, the length of their sentence, their aggression risk, whether they are a threat to self or others and/or from other inmates.

It looks like the amount of out-of-cell “recreation time” (TV, games, arts and crafts, intramural sports) given each day depends on their assignment, as well. Some inmates are given as much as 4 hours on weekdays and 7 hours on weekends. Those in administrative segregation only get two hours in the gym or recreation yard a day.

All property must fix inside a 1.75 cubic feet cubby/box; some exceptions like radios, fans, and typewriters may be stored outside of the box.

They may have radios in their cell and play them at a low volume or use earphones.

They aren’t allowed to have a personal TV; they may watch TV only in the dayroom and programs are chosen based on the majority vote.

They are given 20 minutes to eat.

In the dayroom, they may have one drink, one opened container of food (such as bag of chips or package of cookies), one book or magazine, one Bible, board games, writing materials, brush or comb.

New offenders are permitted to bring the following items:

One educational item
Health care devices/supplies (contacts may only be worn until TDCJ-issued glasses are provided)
One wedding ring and wrist watch
Legal material
Personal hygiene items
Photographs
Visitor’s address list and phone numbers

And yet we all read about exceptions and things smuggled in. Read somewhere some prisons let them have tablets as it keeps them occupied and quiet. And have also read of prisoners with TVs tho god knows how they get any reception without cable! Guards have been known to smuggle things in so the rules seem to be a bit wonky.

Pursuant to Bill: SB 1373 (effective 9/1/2021) nonpayment of the statutory fine after 15 years can be deemed uncollectable.

TX criminal fines seem to me more like legislation lip service.

I thought Cofer was appointed as she claimed to be indigent.
For both KA's 2018 Theft of service MB and 2022 Murder-F1 charges, the record clearly indicates Coffer was retained (versus court appointed):

god, prison is so horrible... she is a cold blooded killer no question, but what in the actual !@%&! was she thinking?
I can't imagine the cocktail of personality disorders this woman suffers from. She was insanely , psychotically jealous.
there was nothing in it for her. she had to flee, she didn't end up with the guy..I mean literally NOTHING was gained.

sometimes a young woman will get a little stalker-ish for what ever reason..or drama..but take it to the next level and add a gun to the equation..

seems like she wanted to kill Mo, she wanted to kill, she wanted to get away with it, she wanted to be a genius and get away Scott free..very ego maniacal and overly confident in her own abilities to escape and elude etc..

she will be a fascinating subject in a book now. mOO

And she's 35 yrs old!. I can't help but think of where the prudent, educated, woman is at that age and it's so far from the stalker girlfriend toting a handgun.

At one point (pre CS anyway) she looked happy and carefree. Here's her old Facebook. www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=562450359
Wow. Thanks for sharing this! It’s really quite heartbreaking. She looked, like you said, happy and carefree. It breaks my heart to see her sister in those pictures. I’d be curious to know if she ever would’ve thought her sister would be capable of something so awful. My sister is my absolute best friend and I can’t imagine if she did something like this. Of course I feel even worse for Mo’s family - but those pictures just really made me sad.

The heat WILL bother her! I live in the Deep South. Really everyone complains about the heat and suffers in it if out too long in it - even athletes. We just have the luxury to go back inside the air conditioner when it’s overwhelming. Trust me - she won’t be comfortable! Especially at night when trying to sleep.
