My scanner app just lit up with "Onandaga County" and I googled it and found it's Syracuse. I can't find anything on Google News going on in Syracuse but I immediately wondered if the hunt for KA was heating up? probably not related.

Surprised to see 6K listeners for Onondaga county (adjacent to me).

I don't hear anything

I haven’t found the text from MW to CS regarding their relationship status.

As far as trying to negotiate first degree murder charges down, KA is doing herself no favors by staying on the run from authorities. It would be in her best interests to hire a good attorney, which she should be able to afford, based on what has been reported, and get that attorney to call the US Marshals, and arrange for her immediate surrender. JMO
True. But she was dropped at Newark airport a month ago, and she’s made no move to do this. :(

Very frustrated here, because I’ve read the text in several articles but now can’t find it. Anyone else recall which articles it appeared in?
@forgetmenot

EDIT: FOUND IT:

After going through Wilson’s phone, police appear to back up the idea that she may have still considered herself in some sort of relationship with Strickland. According to the affidavit, Wilson sent Strickland a text in January 2022 after apparently being at an event where she saw Strickland with Armstrong.

“Hey!!” she wrote. “Sooo I would like to talk to you at some point. I had originally texted you on Friday but it appears my texts aren’t going through again. This weekend was strange for me and I just want to know what’s going on. If you just want to be friends (seems to be the case) then that’s cool but I’d like to talk about it ’cause honestly my mind has been going circles and I don’t know what to think.”

Seems to me that some people on here participate in the cycling community. So I would like to ask a couple of questions.
Do women and men race the same races or is there classification of only women racing one another, or men racing one another, or is it done by age group? Just curious about the workings of particular races. Maybe the Hico race here in Texas might be a good example. Just curious. Also is it common to stay with friends when you move from one city to another to participate in a race, and.....how do people plan this? Is it common knowledge when someone stays with another person or is it usually kept private? Just curious. Also on a scale of 1-10 how competitive is the sport? Does that competitiveness play out in interpersonal relationships also? And finally what was the award for successfuly winning first place in the Hico Tx race?

I'm sure everyone has put this together but "the texts weren't going through again" almost undoubtedly bc KA made him block her number and he was only able to unblock it when they were apart or when he had the idea to put her in his phone under another name.

@SteveP
Even though for the past month she obviously hasn’t done as you suggested (getting a good attorney to negotiate with US Marshals), do you think she may be tired of being on the run, and is pondering it? Or does that not really jive with her character?

I was reading about “Roxham Rd” border crossing from NY state to Canada as related to another case and wondered if it’s been brought up as a possibility in this case.
Apparently it is 5 hrs by car or 26 hours by bike from the camping area associated with her sister.

To try and answer your questions, gravel racing is a new type of cycling event that has really gained in popularity over the last ten years or so. It uses mostly rural and mountain gravel roads. Women and men typically race together in the main (longest) race with a mass start but there are often different starts for cyclists doing shorter course distances at most events. It's kind of like most marathons, where there's a small number of top pros along with many amateurs, except the entrant numbers overall are kept much smaller (hundreds of cyclists versus, say ~25k runners in the Boston Marathon). The result classifications depend on the event, but typically overall results and various M/W placings are awarded, sometimes a senior/master category, but not usually age groups like in running events.
The Hico "Gravel Locos" results are here https://www.athlinks.com/event/364901/results/Event/1004800/Course/2194351/Results
On a scale of 1-10, the fastest riders are a 10. Several are former Tour de France riders. But the pros are probably less than 10% of entrants. I don't know the award $ but I suspect most top riders' income comes from sponsors. I have no idea about their personal travel arrangements. That probably varies. MOO

Good points. The Sun does seem like one the most tabloid-like MSM sources. Unfortunately if it wasn't for their reporting, plus that from some Canadian cycling journalists, there would be few, if any, updates to find.

You are right. However, the case is not a call for moralizing. In my view, one woman was quite young, per her family, unattached, neither married, nor engaged. The other two, partners for three years, but, not engaged, no family unit, no kids. Close to 35, relationships either move towards nesting, or partners start thinking that maybe it is not destined to be forever.

In no way was it a love triangle; at best, it was a case for couples' counseling. The outcome - brutal killing of Mo because another woman wanted her off own way - is shocking, and should be discussed from the standpoint of some people absolutely lacking human conscience and morality.

Sorry I hope people understood me correct. I tend to use many introductory words, a family trait. It is too late to edit. When I said “not the case for moralizing”, in no way did I mean WSers. I meant the newspaper that, while writing about the case, made it gossipy, and then, the Internet... I am very happy that there was an interview with Mo’s family. Mo was an amazing young woman, not only an athlete, but a Dartmouth graduate. One wishes she had a future, one wishes she went to Africa as she planned to.

I do wonder about the defense of "crime of passion"
Quote RSBM.

I truly hope they won't try to argue a crime of passion, IF she tracked Mo's location via an App, packed a weapon, drove over, and cornered her in the bathroom of the house. IF that is what happened, I hope the jury sees the truth clear as day.

Drove to the house where Mo was staying the previous day. The next day, tracked Mo, took a gun, drove, swiftly entered the house, then came home and put the gun back.

Yes. CS and MW were both scheduled to compete at Gravel Locos in Hico in May 2022. They are mentioned in this article.

CS placed second last year.

So does that mean that they were competitors in this race?

My understanding is that CS and MW had both planned to participate in the race. CS in the men’s race and MW in the women’s race.

From the article:

“Other pros lining up for the GL150 include Ted King, Ian Boswell, Pete Stetina, Colin Strickland, Brennan Wertz, and South African Matt Beers. The women’s race will be animated by Newsom, Mo Wilson, Sarah Sturm, and Jess Cerra

With regard to the relationship between CS and MW, my sense is that CS didn't want MW to outshine him. He saw it coming, and this was a way for him to try to control it, which of course he would never be able to do. Our behaviors are not always rational.

My own opinion is that this might have been more of the impetus for getting involved with MW than any attraction to her, although that can't be ruled out. JMO.
