Bingo

Indonesia does not have an extradition treaty with the US.

LE definitely should be looking for those white jeans in Indonesia. Plenty of places to work as a yoga instructor, although that would seem to be a hand-to-mouth existance.

Unless she does have access to a lot of funds squirreled away.

In any rate, she is going to have to live out the next 50 years of her life in exile, unless she wants to clear her name and and explain what happened.

Until then, she is a fugitive wanted for murder (IMHO) and we shouldn't be ameliorating this fact.
I like this theory. Thinking of the image of her strolling through the Austin airport carrying her yoga mat, she may be picturing a new zen life for herself after (allegedly) ending someone else’s young life in a hail of gunfire and terror. Buddha weeps, I really hope they catch this woman.

That probably wouldn't be a good argument for her attorney.

Yeah, but it's the truth.

She could have been in Austin at home crying her eyes out and relying on the support of friends as she tried to sort out what to do about CS. Having freedom, having a family to visit, or a car to take for a head-clearing road trip, or whatever.

Instead she is cutting ties with all her support and rather abruptly living in a far less stable system, always at risk of those who will take advantage of her to sell her out to the police.

Unless we hear otherwise, it also appears she has walked away from a couple of financial assets: The Wheelhouse partnership with CS, her home, and her rental properties.

Having seen how Indonesia deals with US citizen criminals, she is in for some big headaches and expenses. Even if she did not commit the crime in Indonesia. She could very well become a pariah and have to keep moving to avoid harassment and extortion. Losing all the support of the US Consular service. All her US benefits like Social Security or healthcare.

According to the Deputy U.S. Marshal interviewed, they have no evidence that she boarded another flight. He said they "lost the footprint in the sand" after LaGuardia.

He said they have generated 37 tips, a lot of which are valuable. Seems low to me but it just takes one good one I guess!
BBM

I doubt that she went to another country, but if she did IMO it would be Canada. She would have to go to JFK or EWR for an international flight outside of LGA's 1,500-mile perimeter rule and she would have been seen on a camera somehow in either of those places or traveling there or at least at security there. Maybe that's just hopeful thinking. I agree with other commenters that there really is no fake ID you can get in a few days and use to travel by air anymore. I flew out of LGA a few weeks ago and they scanned/inspected my ID at security for a hot minute.

I can understand how they lost her trail if she used a bus (literally who pays for an NYC bus? there would be no trail if she just, you know, hopped on) or a cab and paid in cash, but it's frustrating. Wouldn't a cabbie remember her and where she was dropped off, couldn't they track her movements with all the cameras posted around the city?

I always want to think in these fugitive cases that the accused is constantly on the run. If following the White manhunt case has taught me anything, people don't act like the movies and do just hole up in places waiting for time to pass and things to hopefully blow over.

How are her properties now handled?

The Wheelhouse was a partnership with CS. How does that get handled legally if she is missing?

What about her home and rental properties? How long does her family have to wait to be able to get them legally in their name and sell or rent them?

What happens to all this when someone becomes a fugitive with no apparent way to determine if they are dead or alive?

Wow, I totally missed that. So she was/is a partner in a yoga studio in Bali? Hmm.

Edit: When I click on the link, it says it's in Singapore.

Whoa - Is she STILL a partner in a yoga studio in Bali?

It shouldn't be long until some posts a photo of the place (and the staff).

Most interesting (spoken in my Poirot voice)

Good point. Although, if the lawyer or LLC, etc., then sold the property and dispersed the funds "somewhere" wouldn't that be assisting a criminal? It'd be obvious that the money from a sale is being sent somewhere mysterious and being used.
Yeah I suppose they could be in deep do-do for sending her cash, crypto currency or anything else. If the property is sold at a gain, the IRS might also like to see some tax withheld though I dont know if they would have legal grounds to do so. I do think a skilled defense attorney could make some waves here if she left the country before a warrant was even issued for her arrest. That whole "innocent before proven guilty" thing (let alone "innocent before even being charged") is a card those defense attorneys like to play.

I don't think anybody is arguing that the white-jeaned, mat-carrying young lady made the right decision here - only offering speculation as to legal outcomes.

I just researched passport fraud in 2022, and discovered publications dedicated to fraud which state that it’s if anything easier to acquire and use fake passports in 2022 due to sophisticated technology and the dark web.

Additionally: The US government issues warnings about passport fraud, so they obviously still consider it a doable crime.

I think KA may have gotten one and fled.

But could she have gotten a fake passport in 2-3 days? I just don't think it's doable with the timeline. IMO of course.

This is not pointed at you, as I know you were just replying to a comment, but I don't get all of the references to KA wearing white jeans, as if all she took to the airport was what she was wearing and her yoga mat. When we see her on video, she had surely already checked her baggage, and was enroute to her boarding gate.

Granted, she has made what most of us believe were many foolish decisions since initially being questioned by LE, and deciding to flee, but I doubt she hopped a flight to destinations unknown with only the clothes on her back and a yoga mat.

You'd think it was past Labor Day or something. JMO

@SteveP,
I believe when posters refer to the white jeans, they mean that anyone traveling around the world would not choose white bottoms as to the dirty circumstances of airports, public transport, pollution, etc.
Experience - A flight with my Mother as a kid, her in white jeans. Spilled a Bloody Mary in her lap.
Not a pretty picture.

Well, no, but she may have hung out in NYC for 10-16 days, gotten it, disguised herself, and flown out of the country undetected.

I have a question about the Bali theory (or flying to any other country). Even if she has extensive training as a yoga instructor, I just can't imagine that you could jet to some foreign location, and in a few days obtain a decent job. Surely they'd want proof of her training before hiring her, which would mean divulging her real name so they could call for references. And do foreign countries typically hire Americans or anyone who is not native without questioning a visa, etc.? I honestly have no idea how that works, and am sure all places are different, but it just doesn't seem like in 4 days she could have figured out an overseas plan that'd be safe and lucrative.

I suppose, but I'm not convinced she was flying beyond NYC, and if she was, I do'n't believe it was a continuation of her flight to NY. Had it been, I think LE would have definitely discovered that at the same time they uncovered the flight from Austin to LaGuardia. I suppose we will find out at some point. JMO

2-3 days would be tough. If she did obtain one, it was probably on her January to-do list right below "get a gun" and right above "get yoga mat that will fit in overhead compartment".

As someone who has done a lot of international travel, when you are doing a lot of flying or sitting in buses and are trying to travel lightly, you choose clothes that don't show dirt, and can be washed and dried quickly.

Denim (of any color) is a disaster because the cotton takes a long time to dry, especially in humid environments. Sometimes you end up in dirty buses, or sitting on dusty benches or such. Spilling drinks or food. White just gets dirty and is difficult to keep clean. Not at all practical

I will keep that in mind the next time I travel. Makes sense.

But couldn’t she have flown beyond NYC after 1-2 weeks there, with a fraudulent passport?

All the south Pacific or south Asian island place (like Indonesia, for example) are really quite humid and even though they are hot, it takes a terribly long time to dry a densely-woven cotton like denim because of the humidity. You have to leave jeans out in the sun to bake, and it seems like days before they are wearable.

Not the same as if you are trying to dry a pair of jeans in bone-dry Arizona

Trust me on this one.

I wonder why KA’s Wanted poster does not list her as “possibly armed and dangerous” since :
a. She shot a girl multiple times and killed her
b. She’s owned and operated a firearm
c. She is in unlawful flight from US federal law enforcement
d. She can easily acquire a firearm on the streets of NYC.
