Blond hair? I see a brunette.

Time to check my vision. But, on the photo where they all are walking, and she is in the middle, she looks light-haired.

P.S. this photo. Either brown with highlights, or dark blonde? Definitely not brunette.

I found this to be a cocky remark to the judge…

Kennedy, who last year announced that she is retiring at the end of her term on Dec. 31, told defense attorneys that asking for a speedy trial is a de facto way of saying they are waiving the need for any pretrial hearings — such as motions to challenge the evidence — but defense attorneys said that is not the case.

"We can walk and chew gum, your honor," Cofer said.
I agree - I think if I was the judge, I would be thinking "Oh, a smarta**e, eh?" Not a good idea to get the judge offside.

She has a younger sister (who was present for the pretrial hearing yesterday), an older brother we haven't heard much about, & both of her parents (divorced) live in Michigan, where she grew up. Her parents have spoken publicly in her defense.

Use (theft?) of her sister's passport is implicated in her flight from justice to the beautiful beaches of Costa Rica.
Thank you for this. It may be from being a parent myself, I always feel most for the parents of both parties (apart from the victim, of course.)

KA was charged with using a fraudulent passport and that charge still stands in New Jersey, correct?

Does anyone have any idea how and when that case will be handled while the case in Texas is going through the process? How does that work? Does KA make video appearances? Has she been arraigned? Bond set? How do Federal cases differ or do they?

^^BBM

The biggest difference between State and Federal cases is that States are not required to charge by use of a grand jury. Many do, but the Supreme Court has interpreted the Constitution to only require the federal government to use grand juries for all felony crimes.

On July 7, 2022, via phone before NJ Magistrate, a US Marshall attested to the Criminal Complaint alleging KA committed the offense of Misuse of Passport, a felony offense.

The Complaint wasn't entered into the docket until around 7/19/22.

As of this date, the grand jury has not returned an indictment, and KA has no attorney on record. So we wait...

CRIMINAL DOCKET FOR CASE #: 2:22-mj-08230-JSA-1
Case title: USA v. ARMSTRONG
Assigned to: Magistrate Judge Jessica S. Allen

Here's a good link to the Steps in the Federal Criminal Process--
(steps 1-11).

Maybe they’ll wait on that case and use it if the murder charge goes awry.

LOL. You know we can't talk about much when the thread gets what amounts to a whole page devoted to the color of CA's hair in the courtroom appearance. Allow me to throw in my opinion. Where I live, 'brunette' and 'brown-haired' mean the same thing. She does appear to have blonde highlights, and light brown hair. I was more focused on her apparent need for a tailor, as that dress does not flatter her at all. JMO

Here, I can only sympathize with her. She probably dresses in a casual style, and now was told to dress "professionally" for the court. She might have even borrowed something from KA, or a taller friend, as the dress looks as if it were a donation.

Maybe the red-haired KA clone attorney allowed her to rummage through her closet, for something more appropriate than a t-shirt and shorts and flip-flops.

Plus, it has a whiff of "Texas brags": too local, and the whole country is watching.

This is what I think. The black dress suit belongs to the attorney right behind.

I assume that the process will be closed, so whatever we can discuss, including hair, time to do it now. I foresee lots of issues related to relationships between KA and CS potentially
popping up, but the main fact, that KA took it on the side person, Mo, who didn't even live in Austin, will remain unchanged.

I really think that must be it.

I think CA may have had to borrow formal attire for the court hearing. Years back, I was interviewing for a position in another part of the country, flew in the night before and the airline lost my luggage, found it the next morning, but it wouldn't be delivered to me in time for the morning interview. So a close friend loaned me a suit, and the sleeves were long but it got me through the interview.

This could explain the long sleeves and ill-fitting blouse as well. CA may not have had formal attire with her as she probably had a more casual style given her work at Haven Camp and her current lifestyle/profession.

It happens.

You’re probably right. I would think she’d buy a dress to attend her sister’s pretrial hearing, but maybe not. I wish they’d made it look better with some safety pins, but then it’s not a fashion show.

True-- not a fashion show but safety pins would've been good because it is a decorum show
