The Midland Police Department is seeking information on missing 25-year-old Nathaniel Machuca.

He was last seen around mid-morning Sunday before reportedly leaving Midland to go visit his mother in Andrews. He never made it to his mother's house, according to authorities.

Machuca's 2009 black Chevrolet Colbat was impounded after being towed from 1214 Desert Rose Drive in Midland. The vehicle was parked by an unknown male who took off running, according to authorities.

Machuca is 5 foot, 11 inches and weighs 200 pounds. He has brown hair and green eyes.

If anyone has seen or been in contact with Machuca contact the Midland Police Department at 432-553-5257.

Midland Police asking for help finding missing person

MIDLAND, Texas — A loveable brother, son and co-worker: Nathaniel Machuca works at Starbucks, a job he loves, which is why when he didn't show up to work his mom knew something was wrong.

"I called his work and they were like no he hadn't shown up and I was like really? That's not like him, and they said no he's always early and everything. And he really likes his job and they said he didn't show up and that's when I called the police," said Mary Helen Machuca, Nathaniel's mom. "I got worried, very worried."

Nathaniel Machuca missing, car found in Midland
[...]

Machuca's family went door to door trying to get information from houses in the neighborhood, and one surveillance video caught their eye.

"So far there's only been one surveillance video that they've shown, but it's not really clear as to why... but there's main evidence that supposedly whoever it was, parked the vehicle, got out, took off running, they looked back at the vehicle and just kept on running, but away from where he normally lives," said Jayden.

The family is waiting on video from one other neighbor who is currently out of town, but they say Machuca would never leave his car like that.

[...]

The family also found out Tuesday that there have been charges on his credit card.

"Yes we found out today that there was activity yesterday and today," said Mary.

They are working to get those records subpoenaed to hopefully lead them to Nathaniel.

Do they know for sure the "unknown male" running away from the car isn't Nathaniel?

Machuca’s brother, Jayden Machuca, is stunned by the disappearance of his brother. He said, “out of nowhere he’s just gone, missing, we just don’t know.”

Now Jayden and the rest of his family are scrambling to find any information they can to bring their loved one home.

“It’s very hard, especially for my mom and dad. We’ve actually been searching around and everything, just looking everywhere that we can find, just to find him and hopefully bring him home safe, make sure he’s safe, it’s our main priority,” said Jayden.

Does Nathaniel have two jobs? Previous reports said Nathaniel works at Starbucks? When and where is the last shift Nathaniel worked? What shift did he miss? Have all of his co-workers been interviewed?

Machuca's car was initially found in a neighborhood in north Midland, but his family did get to see surveillance video from a neighbor that saw him head north on Stonebridge Drive toward Pavilion Parkway. After that, his family doesn't know what direction he went.

"It was on Desert Road in Midland, Texas," Martin Machuca, Nathaniel's father said. "He was last seen on Burgandy Street on Stoneridge, heading north on that road with a video cam that the neighbor had picked up on him. We are asking people around there in the neighborhood hopefully if they can pick him up on the video cams."

I wonder where the credit card charges were made? Is it places he would go to? Any chance of CCTV there?

Does he have a roommate?

He said his brother Nathaniel was never the type to disappear like this, and even said their father taught them when they were young, to always return home.

...

One of Nathaniel’s close friends, Rosa Perez said the same thing, that this was very uncommon of Nathaniel. She just wanted him to know how much he is missed right now and hopes that if he is seeing any of this, that he returns home soon.

Perez emphasized, “We’re worried about you, we love you, we want you to get home safe, you know if anybody knows anything at all, whatever it may be, put yourself in our shoes, in his families shoes, like wouldn’t you want your family to know where you’re at? And just to reach out, you know?”

Doesn't seem like the type to go off on his own, according to loved ones.

“Please baby, if you see this, please call me. We’re worried about you, you’re not in trouble or nothing, just let us know you’re okay, come home,” pleaded Mary Helen.

However, this statement is kind of odd to me. Why mention that he's not in trouble? Has he been in the past? Of course it could be just reassurance and pleading for him to contact them.

Does this mean he left his car and went on foot?

Does this mean he left his car and went on foot?
I am very confused about this as well. When I read that he was last seen on video, I wasn’t sure if they meant his car was last seen or they could actually see him in the car or he was walking.

Sadly, the body of Nathaniel Machuca was located in a nearby oilfield, and his death is believed to be a homicide.

Such a sad update. I hope LE can find out who is responsible for Nathaniel's death. I'm curious to learn whether the murderer(s) was known to him or if this was a random carjacking/robbery gone wrong. Today's crimes have gotten so out of hand it's hard to tell anymore.

My condolences go out to Nathaniel's loved ones. May he rest in peace. :(

Does he have a roommate?
He lived with his boyfriend at the time, his name is Angel. Angel then proceeded to leave Midland to Austin Tx immediately after Nathaniel's death.
