Hey there, YesorNo. :seeya:

:bombshell: Bombshell! I had to check which MSM network was reporting. Informative clip though... The reporter said 2 weeks schedule for trial expected after jury selection. Sounds about right, I think it only took 3 weeks to sentence Eric Williams with the death penalty in Kaufman County. Although not as urban, Erath County has a similar conservative political climate, BTW. http://www.websleuths.com/forums/sh...torney-Mike-McLelland-wife-found-slain/page29

Watch and learn, Arizona, watch and learn.

The prosecution is not even requesting a death sentence for Routh. All they want is a life sentence without parole. IMO that seems quite reasonable. Whatever Routh is sentenced to whether it be mental institution or prison needs to be for life. Otherwise society will never be safe. Some kinds of "crazy" can't be fixed & Routh is one that can't be fixed. JMO

It's not even a matter of justice for Chris Kyle & Chad Littlefield. They are dead & can't be brought back to life. Their families are forever scarred & traumatized. There is no justice for them. Nothing can ever change that. Routh's lifetime incarceration in a prison or mental instutition is a matter of public safety!!

Convinced of guilt: More than a dozen potential jurors dismissed because of pretrial publicity

"...District Attorney Alan Nash is prosecuting the case with Jane Starnes, an assistant attorney general who has been brought in to help with the case.
Nash has indicated he will not seek the death penalty; Routh would receive an automatic life sentence without parole if convicted.

Defense attorneys J. Warren St. John, Tim Moore and R. Shay Isham were appointed to represent Routh."

American Sniper trial grabs the headlines in Sunday 2/8/15 Dallas Morning News. For some reason I am unable to get the direct link to the article to work, but if you click on the above link, it will be the first thing you see.

I would very much appreciate hearing your interpretations of one particular statement near the end of the article. It says that if Routh is found not guilty by reason of insanity he could be held in a state mental hospital for the duration of what would have been his criminal sentence. I interpret that as meaning his sentence to a mental institution would be for life.

I am extremely skeptical of insanity pleas for the reason that some people appear to become totally sane after they are admitted to a mental institution & then are then released back into society where they commit other crimes. Simply put, they only use the insanity defense to escape being held responsible for their crime.

I just want this guy locked up somewhere for life.

He knew what he was doing, he told his sister he sold his soul for a truck. Kyle's nice new black pick up truck...

You bet your boots he did!! If you remember almost immediately after he was arrested & put in jail he started playing the insanity card. He tore the toilet away from the wall & flooded his cell. If I remember correctly he also ripped a TV off the wall & several other extremely destructive things. He's just looking for a reason to get away with a double murder.

An interview by a British newspaper with the father of Eddie Ray Routh. Sounds to me like the Routh family is having a pity party. Personally, I'm not joining that party. I can't fault a parent for loving their child but there comes a time when you have to admit that your child committed a heinous crime & must be held accountable. I also believe this is the same interview where the senior Routh said that his son had been baptized while in prison. To me, it's a bit strange that he only became interested in religion once he was in jail. Questionable timing, IMO. I think the Routh family & defense attorneys are going to throw all kinds of crazy things out there & just hope something sticks to the wall.

Interesting... LWOP? Fine by me. Keep it simple. Fiscally speaking, the best decision in my mind.

And I get forever scarred and traumatized and accepting a loved one as forever dead and gone. There is no justice, agreed. That being said, I think the families have a clear vision of what they consider to be best-available justice with the cards they have been dealt. I hope they get what they need to help them heal and move on.

Jury selection begins today. Be sure to watch the video & the comments of a prospective juror dismissed today. Contrary to the whining from the defense about not being able to get a fair jury, this dismissed juror says there is no way the 260 prospective jurors are going to come out unscathed from this experience. He says no matter the decision reached, the county is going to be angry. He said it's just something that Erath Co. is just going to have to learn to live with. I must say it surprises me that half the county would be for an insanity verdict.

nbcdfw.com 5pm news is reporting that the jury selection should be completed by 6pm today. That is a surprise to me. I would have guessed the defense would draw it out as long as possible. Therefore, in the future, please disregard any predictions I may make. Apparently, I'm just not "with it".

Breaking News: nbcdfw.com is reporting on 6 pm news that a jury has been selected; 10 women, 2 men, 1 male alternate, 1 female alternate.
