It sounds like countless people, to include army personnel, not only spread false information, but admitted to it.

The family heard about it, and repeated what they heard.

i personally think vanessa busted a prostitution ring at fort hood, involving all the suspects, and was going to take it to her superiors. perhaps the sexual harassment was intimidation, and why she was scared to tell her family.

My understanding is Vanessa DID tell her family. She confided in her sisters and mother and other female soldiers. If my superior walked in on me in the shower, my sisters would be first to know about it!

Reportedly, it was the military that she did not report the allegations to because her superior(s) was the suspect, and the culture on base is such that telling is deemed career suicide. I think that Vanessa, who wanted to be a soldier since age 10, was both conflicted and devastated.

I think there was contact, but they couldn’t tell the family anything of value. So “they won’t tell us anything,” would be true.

Of course they had a good reason for that, especially with a lot of the rumors.

The initiation of the search was for disappearance of Vanessa...

He's saying not from her, but only family... two are not linked. Allegations vs. disappearance are two investigations.

I feel like I now have more questions than I had before the press conference.

As this guy wasn’t in her chain of command, and worked in an adjacent building, then motive is still up in the air.

I now believe he found himself with an opportunity, and made sexual advances towards Vanessa. She rebuffed him, and he killed her in a rage.
