I’m pretty sure every base has one, but I’m not sure if some bases have multiple.

These weapons can only be checked out with permission. When you deploy (atleast in my experience), each unit has armorers assigned to them.

That makes total sense. Thank you so much @MassGuy!

So this is a case that happened at Ft. Hood and it's horrendous that it's being swept under the rug!

It sounds like that came from someone purporting to be a friend. I can’t find any further reference to it, and am always skeptical of early information that does not come from authorities.

I’m pretty much ignoring reports of both a ping off base, and that supposed gas station purchase.

Me too. I think this was an inside job for sure.

Thanks, I was going through the list and then saw your great post.

Seems like the deaths on post were accidents and suicides. Which is typical of deaths on U.S. military bases.

I'm not sure how it fares per-capita, but the place is massive. Military bases are full of young, risk taking people, in a high stress environment. Lots of turnover. Lots of crashes, feeling the need for speed, fast vehicles bought with those first adult paychecks. Lots of interpersonal relationships started and ended.

Yes. I saw something as well. I think it said that they are using electronic readers maybe?
I read this also. Due to Covid-19, no guards, just card readers. If one car enters the base using the proper ID/card reader, could one or two more cars slide in behind and get through? Same question with exiting the base. Is a card even needed to exit?

An inside job, someone (or more than one) from inside the base. Someone she’s familiar with. Lots of area to search there. moo

Okay I found this so this would explain her Unit. 3rd Cavalry Regiment adds engineer squadron

3rd Cavalry Regiment adds engineer squadron
...“I hope we bring value added to an already rich tradition of mounted riflemen. With that, bringing that extra flavor of combat effectiveness with engineers,” Ray said. “We have everything that you need to support the regiment, as well as stand alone as a combat unit.”
Thank you.

This describes the armored cavalry and it's mission. I didn't want to put the list up here, I thought that might be a violation, but if you go to Armored Cavalry, this is one of the first ones to pop up that wasn't wikipedia or quora, and it is listed under DoD. (Is it okay to post this MODS? Would you remove it if it's some kind of violation, please.

US Army Table of Organization and Equipment

ARMORED CAVALRY TROOP
ARMORED CAVALRY SQUADRON, ARMORED CAVALRY REGIMENT

DESIGNATION: TROOP -----(CAVALRY), ----- ARMORED CAVALRY

Could someone possibly sneak in using someone else's card?

Could someone possibly sneak in using someone else's card?
With no guards at the gates due to the coronavirus, I’m wondering if cars could sneak in behind another car going in. I don’t know anything about military bases so I don’t know if it’s possible or not. I’m not thinking someone else’s card was used (although it’s a possibility) but rather cars sliding in behind another one. In many gated neighborhoods, one car opens the gate and 3 cars follow.

I think every unit has a armory. Correct me if i am wrong @MassGuy etc.

Is there anyone here that knows anything about the armories? The size or the layout of the interior? Are they usually one big open space or are there little rooms?
The dictionary says
an Armory is a storage place for weapons and other war equipment. a building that is the headquarters and drill center of a military unit. a place where arms and armor are made; an armorer's shop; arsenal.

Yah the phone records will be huge.

IF they can pin point where and when the phone traveled past certain locations. (Which I think they will be able to if it last pinged some 20 miles away).

They then will likely be able to identify the vehicle that it was in and when it passed by certain surveillance cameras.

They will learn a lot if they haven't already

Well, we can hope, can't we?
I think their surveillance on that base is better than we believe.

He may have been kicked out, the language suggests it.
Suicide seems most likely thing in his case.
Never mind, I got it. Thank you. There are other factors involved that you may not be taking into consideration, but at the same time, I may be putting too much weight into those other factors. And you know, it's not fair to discuss his case here, where he doesn't have representation or the whole situation is explained.
