Family of missing soldier push for answers
KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) A day before family and friends of a missing Fort Hood soldier are set to hold a peaceful protest, her loved ones pushed for answers in her disappearance.
During a press conference Thursday, the family of Pfc. Vanessa Guillen pushed for someone to come forward with information in her disappearance.
"We're asking the public to get involved. We hear the phrase, 'If you see something, say something.' Well this is the time," said Francisco Mendoza with Alianza Latina Internacional.
They, along with representatives from LULAC, joined Vanessa's sister, Mayra Guillen, and her mother.
Vanessa's mother pleaded for anyone with information to come forward and saying Vanessa was her youngest child and she feels a part of her is now missing.
"I want you guys to put yourself in my shoes and speak up before it's too late. Don't try and cover for anyone that won't do it for you," said Mayra
Guillen.
Late Thursday, Fort Hood released an update saying more than 500 soldiers from the 3rd Cavalry Division searched daily on foot in training areas, barracks and across the post.
Fort Hood also says they are actively conducting interviews and following up on credible leads. Still, after a month no clues to where Vanessa could be.
Anyone with information is asked to contact local authorities.
