When I made my 1st post about Bambi, I had no idea someone else had submitted her a few days earlier. I have in no way tried to steal anyone's thunder, and I am thrilled someone else found her too. The end result is someone gets their name, and that is what really counts.

We all should be proud that one more person is a doe no more!
:)

With everyone working seperately, all over the globe, it's hard to know what anyone else is working on or submitting. I'm glad you posted the case here- I would have never known of the case had it not been posted here.

So thanks to you also Snufamonbobball! All of you are wonderful in the work you do! :blowkiss:

My bold, I agree. I'm curious to know why the missing person report was cancelled- doesn't make sense considering her soc hasn't been used and her family has not heard from her.

From reading the article I'm thinking it was cancelled 'automatically' by LE when she would have turned 18. Things were very different 25 years ago in regards to missing persons and she would have been an adult at 18, missing of her own free will and not a runaway. It just makes me wonder how many other missing people's reports were cancelled and are not listed anywhere.
Her parents, now in their 80's, are probably not aware of all the resources available on the internet. I'm glad her brother put her information on NAMPN.

This is just so sad, but maybe at least now her family will know what happened.

Thanks raindrops.
I had actually found one of several articles about Bambi and a few mentioned the missing persons report being cancelled on her 18th birthday. It makes me wonder why a missing persons report was never reissued, especially since the family hired a PI. I mean no disrespect by that, just curious why with the PI involved it still got missed.

A few of the other articles, (too many to link and my computer is having probles leaving me unable to do so) mentioned the Detective handling the case isn't as confident as we seem to be here. Some identifying features the family recalls which are not found on Jane Doe. I did some research on the third nipple aka a Supernumerary nipple, having never heard of it, and apparently it is not that uncommon. A few sites mentioned it's as common as occuring in 1 of 18 people. Those numbers are very surprising to me.

I still think it is strong, but will have to wait for the dna... and continue to keep the family in our prayers.

ETA: I know several things do match up. but didn't read anything about the family identifying her jewelry. Wondering why...

Hell-o to all:
My name is Pauk Dick, brother of Bambi Lynn Dick. The family has been looking for Bambi for 25 years now,we had a PI for a year right after Bambi went missing from the concert that night.I have been on the net .looking at all the states unidentified bodys that I could find.
I did not list Bambi on the internet out of respect for my parents wishes, then one day two weeks ago I got tired of running into walls and just happened to run into the doenetwork site. I was going to list with doenetwork but I guess I thought the site said they were not taking anymore apps. because they were so busy,my mistake,so I clicked on your mother site NAMPM and listed Bambi there.
I was contacted about 7 or 8 days later, and was asked for a picture of Bambi and other information. About two days later I got an e-mail and said they had a possible match they never said who and I e-mailed her back and said you mean 55uftx,she said yesand I would be contacted by the Amarillo police, which I was about four days later.
If you want to read more,go to the Quad city news and read yesterdays paper.
I think the Doenetwork and there sister site doe"s a wonerful thing, and I think all states should do more about missing people and kids.It does"t matter who found what first, what matters is you all help. It"s what happens at the end that matters.
Now I want to find the killer.

Dear sir-I am so sorry for your sister's disappearance! You clearly have a handle on the situation with the UID and it sounds to me like you have clear communication with Amarillo regarding the steps they need to take for verification.

Please let us know what else we can do for you-if you can, please let us know if this is indeed a match-I am sure we have many sleuthers who would join you in a continued fight for justice.

They drop off automatically when the child turns 18-this is how it has been explained to me.

Oh this just has to be a match! I'm praying it is so, and I'll pray the next step...justice...comes quickly.

Paul,
I'm sorry to meet under these circumstances. My prayers are with you and your family. Thank you so much for taking the time to come here to WS and answer a few of our questions. If this is indeed your sister, WS does have a bunch of great hearted people who will be ready to assist or research. I think someone was already looking into Quiet Riots tour schedule for that time... looking for clues.
If you need anything we are here.

Our prayers are with you.

I hope it is her and her parents can at least find comfort in knowing where she is and that the Amirillo PD took such good care of her. Kudos to her bother for not giving up on her and making sure she was entered in the database.

Prayers of peace and comfort to all those involved.

Salem

PS - I forgot to say - GOOD WORK to the person that called this tip in and also to all the other sleuths who saw the connection and either called or were prepared to call the tip in. You all have contributed to bringing Bambi home, even if this is not her, you have all put good karma out there and renewed hope that Bambi will be found.

Hi,Thank You all for showing such compassion to our family.I have been married to Bambi's brother for 37 years. For the past 25 of those years Paul has tried so hard to figure out what happen to his sister.Every where he turned he ran into a road block.Until 2 weeks ago when he got onto the Doe site. There he found their sister site NAMPN which helped him post Bambi's picture and her information.Once that happen we know some wonderful lady named Therese made the connection with Bambi's picture and her information to a Jane Doe in Texas.Thank You to her for acting so quickly. This has been hard on all the family. We had always held out hope that Bambi was still alive. But as the years grew we knew she was more likely gone. When we saw the Jane Doe 1983 profile our selfs we had called to the police there and the site we were working with to tell them the discription of this girl sounded like Bambi. They told us they already had the tip on this Jane Doe and was working on it. We have worked very hard with the police department to try and make a positive ID.We know this is Bambi.I know my mother and father -in-law we're unsure only of the rings she wore but like I told them it's been 25 years since they saw Bambi last.Plus their 83 years old and their memory is hazey about things. One of the rings was her birthstone which tells me it was hers. But we do know Bambi had a 3rd nipple under her right breast, she had a burn on her forearm,Double piercied ears, contact lenses tinted blue, she wore the same pants as Jane Doe,had the same hair color, eye color, height and weight. Some other things we also confirmed with the report from the police that made us know this is Bambi. When the story came out in Quad City Times my mother and father-in-law got the paper and saw the postmortum picture they had in the paper. When we called them that night Mom said that was Bambi. That Dad and her knew the minute they saw the picture it was their daughter.See we live in Mass and only had what was printed in the paper on line. The picture's weren't available to see.I know the paper is sending them to us Thank You Ann.Also we will be getting picture's from the police down in Texas for us to look at so to confirm that it's her. This is extremely hard on my husband's parent's, his brother and his family, and Paul and our family. We all never gave up hope that she was alive. Now once the DNA confirms that this is truly Bambi we can go to where she's buried and place a headstone with her neme.Jane Doe 1983 will now have a name.We as a family talked about moving her and said no.She has been there 25 years why disturb her resting place. The Good Lord put her in the arms of Angels when she died in the town of Amarillo,Texas. She was Blessed by such wonderful people and we as her family take comfort in knowing how well she was cared for.Thank You all in Amarillo,Texas. She was a wonderful young lady and was extremely loved by us all.She will be forever missed but never forgotten. To all the Police who have worked on this case and continues to work on it we Thank You from the bottom of our hearts.Especially Sgt. Holmes. You have worked so hard at trying to name this Jane Doe.Now that it looks like you'll be able to the next thing is to bring her killer to justice. We as Bambi's family want to Thank all the heart felt words we have gotten from everyone. We are deeply saded that Bambi is gone but know she is in a good place and that God has had her for all these years.Thank You all for writng hear and your compassion shows in all the words you write. Please keep us in your thoughts and hearts for the wait know for the DNA will be the hardest time. It's going to be a long few months. But in our hearts we know it's her.Bambi we love you and pray you can see how many people out here cared a great deal about you.Thank You all for your support and comfort.Your words mean alot to us. Love Lorie Paul and the Dick Family

 I am so so sorry for your loss.....for your parents in laws loss ........for your husbands loss and for the brutal taking of a beautiful girl, Bambi is only a little bit older than I , and I was graduating highschool when her life was being stolen

Im so glad that you have decided to leave her where she is , that is a very unselfish thing to do

May God bless you and your husband and his parents , and dear Bambi, may she now finally rest in peace once the dna is in...Stay strong in the next months

(((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))

ETA I just read the site where Bambi's details were entered, they recorded her as a endangered runaway ? but she didn't runaway ?

and this part
Bambi was last seen when she went to a concert at the Colonel ballroom on September 29, 1983. A missing persons report was filed with the Davenport police (Report number 83-66283) however it was cancelled in 1984 for unknown reasons.

Do you know who cancelled it ?

And was the guy she went with cleared ?

I just found some articles that answered those questions

http://www.examiner.com/a-1860825~Texas_police_search_for_link_to_IA_runaway.html

Dick's parents indicated they had filed a missing person report in 1983, but that it expired on Dick's 18th birthday, Jan. 4, 1984.

http://myhighplains.com/content/fulltext/?cid=44882
DNA was recently taken from Bambi's parents in Iowa. They will now see if it matches Amarillo's Jane Doe. Trupe says his investigation is just waiting to see if its a match. If it is a match and Amarillo's Jane Doe is finally identified Trupe says its his job to find the murderer. Back in 1983 when nobody claimed Jane Doe's body a senior citizens group held a funeral for her. She is now buried in Memory Gardens Cemetery. As for the Dick family possibly finding peace, Trupe says it could be six months before they know from DNA if Bambi is Amarillo's Jane Doe.

Isnt that lovely that those senior citizes did that for *jane doe* at the time

http://www.desmoinesregister.com/article/20090220/NEWS/90220039
The family filed a missing person report soon after Bambi disappeared, but it expired after she turned 18. The Dicks never believed Bambi ran away because she left her clothes and car behind. They hired a private investigator, but never found the teen.

Pretty obvious she didn't runaway , I wonder whose car it was that she got into? and who the guy was that she went with ...

How far is where Bambi was last seen to where this Jane doe was found ??

From The Doe Network case file description:

Jewelry: She was wearing three rings on her fingers: a gold, diamond friendship or promise ring; a size 7, wedding band, that had been wrapped with a band aid to fit the victim's size 5 finger; and a gold ring with a red garnet or ruby birthstone and a diamond chip on the side.

(My Bold)

I'm wondering if she ran off to get married on a whim and then found out too late that the person she married was anything but kind and loving.
