Taylor Parker, aka Taylor Morton and Taylor Wacasey, appeared before 202nd District Judge John Tidwell with Texarkana lawyer Jeff Harrelson for arraignment Friday morning at the Bowie County courthouse in New Boston. Harrelson entered a not guilty plea on Parker's behalf to the charges.

Bowie County District Attorney Jerry Rochelle told the court his office will seek the death penalty for Parker in Reagan Hancock's death, citing the horror and brutality of the crime, the alleged months of premeditation and planning as well as an alleged lack of remorse by Parker. Rochelle said the decision was made after careful deliberation among district attorney staff and the surviving family of Reagan Hancock and her baby girl.

Woman accused of murdering woman, stealing unborn child, appears in court | Texarkana Today

Parker was in court Thursday afternoon for a pretrial hearing before 202nd District Judge John Tidwell.

Texarkana defense attorney Jeff Harrelson and First Assistant District Attorney Kelley Crisp discussed progress on evidence being tested at the state crime lab and expert witnesses. Tidwell said he understands that the defense has plans to file a motion to change venue for Parker’s trial.

Tidwell instructed the defense to file the motion by the next pretrial hearing in December and scheduled a hearing for Jan. 6, 2022, to hear arguments about whether the case should go to trial in Bowie County or another location.

The state is taking the capital murder case involving the mother’s death to trial first. If convicted, Parker faces death or life without parole. She is currently being held in the Bowie County jail without bond.

Article dated Thurs. June 2nd

Two thousand summonses were mailed out Friday to Bowie County residents with instructions to report for juror qualification later this month in the capital murder trial of Taylor Rene Parker, 29, aka Taylor Morton and Taylor Waycasey. The state is seeking the death penalty for Parker in the Oct. 9, 2020, death of Regan Simmons Hancock.

At a pretrial hearing Wednesday morning, 202nd District Judge John Tidwell said those who receive a summons will be given one of two times to report the morning of June 29 for qualification at the New Boston High School auditorium.

"I needed a place where we could have several hundred people sitting together," Tidwell said.

Opening statements are scheduled to begin Sept. 12.
Can anyone see if it still shows on court docket for 9/12/22 trial start date?

August 21st article states its still set for Sept. 12. I will see if I can find the docket

The voir dire began in earnest on August 1. Individual interviews with prospective jurors went on all day, every day until the 14 jurors were seated.

With the jury in place, opening statements will begin Sept. 12 in the Bowie County Courthouse and will be followed by the prosecution calling its first witness.

It is unclear whether the jurors will be sequestered after the trial begins, but they are not sequestered in the leadup to the trial, according to court administrator Deborah Neild.

Although Parker’s defense attorney filed a motion for a change of venue for the trial, it would only have been considered if an impartial jury could not be found among the pool of prospective jurors from Bowie County.

I made a couple of edits for clarity/correction in italics.

Waycasey (1st ex husband) also testified that he used an anonymous number to reach out to warn to Wade Griffin in January 2020 after learning she was claiming to be pregnant. He didn’t want Parker (this should be Griffin) to know it was him because it would have made his life difficult.

“It’s funny how Taylor is pregnant but every hospital with a 60 mile radius is watching for her because they’re scared she’s gonna come in and steal a baby because there’s no possible way she’s pregnant and they all know that because They got all the hospital records,” cell phone records show Waycasey texted to Griffin on September 11, less than one month before the murders.

Just before noon, the jury returned a guilty verdict after less than an hour of deliberations. They found Parker guilty of capital murder.

During the Oct. 12 sentencing, the judge will have two options: life in prison without parole, or the death sentence.

I can't imagine having to defend Parker. I guess all her lawyers can hope for is getting her life without parole instead of a death sentence.

If I was voting, DP, and based on how quickly the jury came back with a finding of "guilty", I bet it will be pretty quick. The perpetrator has absolutely no consideration for human life. Completely depraved.
