According to police, Herrera’s family became worried when they couldn’t reach her, so they used the popular “Find A Friend App” to try and locate her. The app located Herrera in the 1600 block of Bent Oak in the Missouri City area, which alarmed her family and prompted them to contact the police.

Police arrived at the location that was provided by the app around 7 p.m. and located the vehicle. During the search of the vehicle the young woman’s body was found in the trunk.

iPhone app led family to missing woman’s car — and a body in the trunk, Texas cops say
Poulton told McClatchy in an email that Parker’s motive is still undetermined, but that the murder may have been over a “strained relationship” between Parker and Herrera.

“He was just really matter-of-fact of what had occurred,” Poulton said, according to KPRC. “He did show some remorse.”

Parker first spoke to police at his apartment, and then confessed at a police station, according to Poulton.

So due to 'Find A Friend' family contacted Police with details of car's position: body then immediately found.
Hope this is publicized, as the service 'helped' this family so quickly: although a horrible outcome.

I was one of three vehicles in a car accident around 9 pm returning home from the airport after a business trip. I wasn't hurt but I was a little disoriented. I called my husband and told him I had totaled the car and needed him to come get me. Unfortunately, I could not tell him where exactly on the interstate I was as there were no signs nearby and I did not want to get out of the car in the center lane of a 5 lane road and asked the person who had hit me. My husband used the Find a Friend app and it directed him exactly to my location, even advising him of when to get off of the interstate to get back on in the other direction. I was so thankful for that and really understood the value of having it. As a mom of several daughters - to this day our rule in the house is that if we pay for your phone, you must have the Find a Friend app. I also have it with my parents, just in case.... Some may think it is invasive, but my thoughts are that I am not anywhere I shouldn't be so why would I not share my location. I pray for this young lady's family and friends, but as Cybervampira noted, this was a help to the family and likely saved them from finding her weeks or days later.

What a great service, and certainly helped you.
When shopping, I get annoyed, when I have comments, such as "did you enjoy your shopping experience at .....", but here I have learnt how such Apps help.

That would annoy me as well.... Luckily I haven't had that happen...although my daughter did text me one day and ask me if I could bring her some "to go" food from the restaurant I was at.. LOL
