BBM Not necessarily. Many people buy 'ingestibles' these days. Especially for traveling. If she had a 'loaded brownie' or some 'wax', she may have eaten it quickly while he was writing her up. It would not take effect for an hour or so. And there would be no smell no smoke, to give it away.

I grew up in Berkeley California in the 60's. I have smoked my fair share of weed over the years. I was a hippie and loved every minute of it. But the pot today is so much stronger. Especially the edibles. They are more like halluciginens than weed.

She wouldnt have if she ate the edibles while he was writing the ticket. It takes 1-3 hours for the high to develop.

The cop had an attitude from the start - asking her why she was irritated etc. He knew what he was doing, he was baiting her and unfortunately she took the bait. She was annoyed to have been pulled over for what I think was a petty traffic stop - changing lanes without signalling in what looked to be a fairly traffic free road. Then he played his little cat and mouse game with her - ever increasing his own attitude - knowing full well he was getting her more irritated. Cops should be used to getting attitude- that's part of their job. It's unfortunate for them but they chose their line of work. The cop in this traffic stop was either thin-skinned and took offense to her irritation at being stopped and her responses to his baiting questions or a just plain abusive guy who shouldn't be wearing a badge. You have to give respect to get respect - he didn't respect her one iota from the the get-go. IMO.

How is it baiting her to ask her why she was irritated? Maybe it was a sincere question? She could have said she was irritated because she was getting a ticket on her first day of having a new job and she wished she had not made an illegal lane change and ruin her day. He probably would have said, 'just giving you a warning, have a great day--congrats on your new job. '

And I agree that you have to give respect to get respect. He was polite and professional at the start of this interaction. But she gave him ZERO respect, imo.

It's possible (yecch). There has to be some reason for the elevated THC level at autopsy. Unless there is some mistake, in the report. So the speculation is that she ingested THC either right before she was arrested, or somehow ingested it while incarcerated. I did not say "smoked" because the effects should have been obvious at intake, as well as the smell. JMO

Why would she need liquid if she was quickly trying to hide the evidence to stay out of jail? Brownies/cookies made with pot are extremely tasty.

I blame him for her death. She wouldn't have been in jail if he had any control over his emotions. The charge was trumped up. IMO

While I think it turned into a clash of egos and when one is LE you're going to lose most of the time, I cannot hold officer responsible for her suicide. I'm more interested at the moment of how her arraignment went. She needed $500.00 to post bail, did she reach out to any family members?

I dont think it is possible while incarcerated. She would have been thoroughly searched. But she had time while he was writing the ticket, running her name. She probably was afraid he was going to search her car, since she had so many pending unpaid fines. So she grabbed the edible and ate it quickly. JMO

And some of us look at the police as a possible enemy. They earned it by their abusive behavior. I have several stories. I have a friend who was maaried to two different LE and a son who is LE.

Not impressed with the stories. The abuse ofpower. Did I mention how my friend used to have a gun held to her head by first LE hubby? Second hubby quit as it was not for him. Son is a power tripper

There are millions of LEOS who are not abusive and never have been.

It is not something that would look different than a person being upset about being in jail. It is not like being drunk. It is an internal, emotional experience. But if she was alone in her cell, who would notice? A cop walking by for bed check is not going to be able to tell.

She would have to have had that weed in something like a plastic bag or wrap or something which would have still had residue in it. Nothing like that was found.
Just another piece of the puzzle that doesn't fit.
Too many hinky things in this case to not question what the truth is. JMO

How would you know if anyone 'cared' or not. There might be some very compassionate custodial officers, counselors, health workers. In fact, I bet there are. It is a very hard job and takes a lot of intensity and passion to keep going there day after day.

Absolutely. But defending the creeps among them just because they wear a badge is not productive in addressing and dealing with a very real problem in our society. The potential creeps need to be weeded out of Academies, before they take to the streets. Not a simple solution, but the problem has to be acknowledged before anything can be done to remedy it. JMO

I don't know. I think people are pretty good at hiding their edibles. They can have it inside something like a cigarette box or a purse, and it might not ever be checked for residue. And cookies dont leave much residue. They are designed NOT TO leave any evidence behind. No smell, no oil, nada.

Absolutely. But defending the creeps among them just because they wear a badge is not productive in addressing and dealing with a very real problem in our society. The potential creeps need to be weeded out of Academies, before they take to the streets. Not a simple solution, but the problem has to be acknowledged before anything can be done to remedy it. JMO

If we are going to weed anyone out who is a very real problem in our society, how about the hundreds of thousands of gang bangers who kill young blacks in our cities? I see that as a much bigger problem. That is one of the reasons that cops are so aggressive. They are hired and trained to go up against cold, calculated killers. It is hard to train an 'army' to go out and take on a dangerous group of gangsters, and at the same time, weed out the cops with an attitude. They kind of have to have an attitude to voluntarily want to take on the bloods/crips and M13.
