Why are so many babies abandoned in India? Is abortion not an option for the women? With so many orphans, wonder why people are stealing the kids?

ETA_ : yup, just looked it up. All my life I was under the impression that the woman was given a dowry, because she was going to bring children to the husband's family. I had no clue she had to bribe the groom's family. lol

Hi! Just registered to respond. I grew up in the neighborhood so I can answer questions about the area.

To the person who suggested E. Mockingbird - there is a HUGE police substation there. I can't imagine he'd want to pass that.

I feel like she got dumped in a body of water. Both white rock and lake Ray have large groups of indians/southeast Asians there on the weekends from local churches having celebrations and cookouts. I'm a long distance runner so I'm at both lakes several times a week. White rock is really shallow from almost every point accessible on the lake, with only one spot really deep enough to drive over and dump a body. That is a well traveled road though.

Lake ray has several points that can be driven to with easy and deep spots to quickly dispose of a body. I live currently in Lakewood heights, but my dad and office are in Richardson. At that time of night, the lights are so well timed, I can easily get 15 miles from my dad's house and back in an hour.

I don't think the perp traveled on a major highway. Too many cops looking for drunks. If he went west, you'd be traveling over heavily populated and more traveled areas.

I also think if he traveled west, we'd have photos from the DART rail he'd have to pass.

I also work for a large technology company that rhymes with Lamsung. It's very close by and we employee tons of people. I'm surprised there aren't dozens of camera feeds from houses.

Also, standard floor plan for that type of house has the parents house on the side with backyard and kids rooms facing the front of the house.

Early on there was a neighbor on a news report saying that the police spent a lot of time at his house--checking the garage and freezer. Seemed odd. But perhaps there was some reason to suspect him? I don't think he's an RSO--as the report suggested the family had 3 children. But, a lot of folks don't get caught until they have been engaged in activity for quite some time.

My thought on that was they were checking to see if she somehow accidentally got in there? There was a case a while back where the little boy had gotten into the trunk of a car...

One thing is that adoption rates have plummeted in recent years, especially for states in the north eastern part of India. Adoptions in the southern tip of India have remained stronger. So that may be why they selected that region for their adoption--to take a child who had very little chance of being adopted.

Passports for out-of-country adoptions have made adoptions difficult.In the past, passports had to have a birth certificate, but many orphans have no birth certificate. So now passport officials have been directed to accept the orphanage/adoption agency's indicated date of birth. Which means (IMO) many children adopted may not be the age they are said to be. Interesting.

Thanks for posting, georgiajean. This is interesting. Especially since OH and I had looked into inter-country adoption. Not out of India, but out of Bulgaria, given that my family is from Bulgaria. It's interesting to know how different countries do things.
