Why did they give him bail? They know he can make it!

The charge LE gave him seems very flimsy compared to murder or manslaughter.

I agree with those who commented that mother was going to be arrested. Now it makes sense why he didn't want the bio child returned to Mom this morning at the hearing - that seemed odd.

What is the delay in the parents identifying little Sherin? That is an odd factor isn't it? Most parents are so glad thei missing child has been found, someone in the family goes as soon as possible to identify them.

To think LE and other agencies have spent two weeks searching for this child, and she was just down the street. They deserve a round of applause for a job well done!!

But the sentence is just as stiff as a murder (5-99 years) and the DA felt it matched the crime better which to me says he feels this charge is doable in court whereas a murder charge might be harder to prove. BBM

In the Richardson PD presser, LE said that Sini is cooperating with trying to identify the clothing that was on the body. He specifically said that that was the ONLY way she was cooperating, and that she was not answering any more questions at this time.

Is anyone else curious about the proximity of the church to the culvert?

Well this certainly was no accident. Imo, he was purposefully physically abusing her and the injury/ies Sherin sustained from her own father was so extreme and brutal it caused her death. That is why he is charged with an injury to a child.

Now since he is charged with injuring a child i think it is highly likely Sherin died from severe blunt force trauma to the body and head.

I wanted to reply to your response about lesser charges but wanted to catch up and now I don’t want to go back and find the quote. Anyway, so I’m thinking he’s going to say some accidental death and the. Would try to get lesser charge than murder. Is that what you all think as well? Also seems like even though not positive ID, we pretty much know it’s her. I mean I think we did anyway.

Injury to a Child in Texas
Section 22.04 of the Texas Penal Code provides that a person commits this offense if, through act or omission of an act, he intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly causes a child:

Serious bodily injury;
Serious mental deficiency, impairment, or injury; or
Bodily injury.
What is Serious Bodily Injury?

Bodily injury that creates a substantial risk of death or that causes death, serious permanent disfigurement, or protracted loss or impairment of function bodily member or organ. Tex. Pen. Code §1.07(a)(46).
Additionally, the Code specifically provides that “an owner, operator, or employee” of a facility for the care of a child, elderly or disabled individual also commits an offense if, by omission, causes a child, elderly or disabled individual to suffer injuries as listed above. Tex. Pen. Code §22.04(a-1).

Woulld failing to call 911 or to seek medical treatment for a child seriously injured by someone else while you were present qualify as an omission of an act?

IIRC, their church is located in Irving.

I agree with your sentiment, as most families I know share the load of child rearing. However, we are talking about abusing/injuring/killing a child. I don't believe a spouse sleeps through that. I think there was a lot of "sleeping" going on in that home and I expect charges. (But they haven't yet, and I don't want to cross into a TOS violation.) JMO, of course.

IIRC, Brianna Lopez's "mom" was "asleep", too.

And Isa Celis's mom......

I just saw that several people had retweeted the photo on Twitter earlier today and thought it was from a reporter. My apologies.

No worries, osu! I was just trying to track down the source.

Where did you see this? I haven't seen reported, but have seen people saying it! Thanks!

I think people are saying it, because she is a nurse.

Great news. It sounds like he went in and confessed. I hope he told them the entire story. Now I am wondering why he wanted the child hearing postponed if he knew he was going to confess today and be in jail?

Wesley is being held on a $1 million bond at the Richardson City Jail.
Maybe because he thought if he was in jail his wife would have a better chance of getting custody back.

Since they arrested him after then I think he did walk in and tell LE what happened.

That is just the way some in LE speak while not giving out any details.

That's certainly true in cases, but given WM's first outrageous story to LE, it would not surprise me if LE isn't buying his entire second version of what happened to Sherin.

Hurts my heart to think they can't identify her by photo identification. They are asking for dental records. I'm sickened.
