TX- State vs. Nelson, Mona Yvette

Request to posters now that we have a fresh page here...
Would it be possible to post pictures of Jonathan instead of Mona in this thread?
:please:

People are more than welcome to go back and use the pictures I have posted and use those links.
I just hate seeing HER picture in this thread at all... because it isn't about her.
It's about a little boy named Jonathan. :seeya:

I will post several pictures of Jonathan in this post, feel free to use ANY of them in place of her image. :please:

I have NO evidence to back it up, but here is my theory on the blood... and I like my theory.
I'm going to believe that Jonathan decked Mona... maybe in the nose, wouldn't have to leave a mark.
I like believing that our victims got in one last punch, scratch, bite, or whatever.
So, I think Jonathan punched Mona or something and that's why her blood was present. :seeya:

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Prosecutors are close to wrapping up their case against Mona Nelson, the Houston woman charged with capital murder over the death of a 12-year-old boy.

Snipped:

Testimony is expected to continue through this afternoon. The prosecution could have as many as four more witnesses. Closing arguments could be delivered as soon as tomorrow afternoon.

I hope that is enough time... I'd love a verdict before I leave on my trip... but ONLY if it's guilty!
This is TEXAS... prove everything I've heard about your justice system, please. :please:

So it sounds like the defense doesn't have much of a defense planned, if closing arguments could happen tomorrow afternoon?

Not even 1 witness?

Salem

I'm not sure. Will the trial be over after the prosecution rests? What about the defense? Do they go next or is it over?

Checking in. Wow, no witnesses for the defence? Between that and the lame reason for the blood on the clothing, defence really has a battle huh?

May justice be quick.

From Ann-TX Link:
Her defense attorney, Alan Tanner, also cross-examined Harris.
He asked why no polygraph exam was given, pointing out that his client had voluntarily said that she would agree to a polygraph exam.
The defense said, "All three times she said OK."
Harris replied, "Yes."
Defense said, "And you never did one?"
Harris replied, "No."
The defense points out again, "You never followed through with it?"
Harris replied, "That's right."

Why waste the resources? Its not as if they didnt have the right person....

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Investigators took the stand again on Thursday in the Mona Nelson trial. She's charged with capital murder, accused of killing a 12-year-old boy
.

Snipped:

For the first time we heard about the autopsy of Jonathan Foster, whose body was found face down in a ditch and severely burned. Dr. Paul Radelat, a pathologist testifying for the defense, admitted that he had not actually examined Jonathan's body, but merely viewed photographs of the boy's remains and read the forensic pathologist's report. He said we may never know what happened to Jonathan, but he was confident the child was neither strangled nor burned alive.

Watched the 6PM News on TV. Katie McCall stated the State is expected to call 3 more witnesses tomorrow (8/23/13). One of those witnesses will be the Medical Examiner who did Jonathan's autopsy.

Also, today two witnesses (in Mona's taped interview, they were among people Mona claimed to have been with during the time Jonathan went missing to the time Mona dumped his remains) testified for the State and testified Mona was not with them. One was a co-worker. Also, he testified that Mona "was quick to anger." (Anger problems)

Who would kill a beautiful child for no reason at all? It's beyond my comprehension.

I had already been told that he wasn't burned alive but it is a bless to know from a reputable source that its true.

Thank you God. It is heinous enough that he was murdered, but taking it any further...the stuff of nightmares.

However, he was testifying for the defense and never examined Jonathan so I will wait to hear what the ME has to say.

It sounds like this is the Defense's turn at presenting their case in chief if the article has it right. From the article Ann posted: http://abclocal.go.com/ktrk/story?section=news/local&id=9215358

it says the prosecution is "cross-examining" which means it is the Defense's turn at bat, so to speak.

So tomorrow must be the State's rebuttal.

At least that is how I'm interpreting this..............

Salem

PS - thank you Ann for keeping us all up to date. I can hardly wait for a verdict in this case. :(

Thank you for no pictures of the killer. I'm not dreading coming here anymore. :woohoo:

As far as a verdict, I can certainly wait. :(
I'm not confident. We've had too many miscarriages of justice lately for me to be confident. :furious:
A mistrial wouldn't surprise me at all... and I hope this jury is smarter than that. :please:

Hi, MsFacetious!

There is no jury in the Mona Nelson trial.

It is a bench trial. Mona Nelson, against the advice of her attorney, Allen Tanner, requested a trial by judge. The presiding Judge Jeannine Barr, 182nd State District Court - Houston, Harris County, TX will decide if Mona Nelson is guilty or not guilty as charged.

If found guilty, Mona Nelson will be sentenced to life without parole.

I am confident that Mona Nelson will be found guilty. Just my opinion.

Hi, Salem!

Re the updates, you are welcome.

The Defense had to question one of their witnesses, Dr. Paul Radelat, out of sequence due to his availability.

After his testimony, the State then resumed their questioning of their witnesses and presenting their case.

It was on the KTRK News (TV) last night that the Defense would be questioning one of their expert witnesses today (out of sequence) but an updated video has not been posted to KTRK's website and probably won't be since it is yesterday's news.

As horrid and gruesome as the details that have come out are - I feel better about a conviction and justice now. At least there are details. For the longest time I have been terrified (yes, terrified) that there were barely any scientific links to connect mn directly to the horrid murder. I'm sure it was just because everything was kept under wraps - I should have had more faith. Thank you LE, FBI, Arborists, dna, dogs, Leaves, and eyewitness neighbors.

And security video (for the culvert AND the bar) and red/pink twine.

I agree zoomom- my heart breaks for everyone who had to pull together on this one, but I am energized to see how determined everyone was. Mona made it easy for them to a degree-she had a whole lot of contact with the items associated with the crime and the people who witnessed her participation in it.

If you are soulless enough to commit this kind of atrocity, then I am grateful she did such a poor job of hiding it.

Defense will now present their case!
