HOUSTON (KTRK) -- More than two years after the burned body of 12-year-old Jonathan Foster was found, the woman accused of killing him is finally on trial. But the one main question in the case may never be answered

Snipped:

Jonathan's mother Angela Davis was the first witness called to the stand. She delivered heart-wrenching testimony in which she spoke of a phone call she received at work on Christmas Eve. A manager said it was from her babysitter, but Jonathan didn't have one. She called and a strange woman answered. She could hear her son in the background and then the line went dead. When David returned to the duplex where she and Jonathan were staying with a friend, no one was home.

"I ran up and down the street banging on doors, standing in the parking lot, hollering my son's name," she testified

Here is that link, it wasn't working in your post:

That comment is from Jonathan's Aunt, who is a member here. :seeya:

I was wondering the same thing... because normally you would see a picture of the headstone. :(

There isn't a picture of the headstone on the facebook... or here:

I am guessing that he doesn't have one... and it makes me extremely angry.

Near as I can see, this is Jonathan's "headstone".

Nelson conceded in the past that she dumped the contents of a garbage can from her truck into a drainage ditch, but she says she did it at the request of the Jonathan's stepfather. Inside was the body of the boy, wrapped in carpet. Nelson is pleading not guilty to the capital murder charge.

"Because she dumped the trash can, she must have killed him," said defense attorney Alan Turner. "It's a bandwagon case, and I ask the court to look at each issue that we bring forth with each witness."

Yep.

What do we know of the step-father? Could there be any truth to this? She was hired to dump the body? Or hired to kill him?
Are the parents still together after this?

I was very very suspicious of the stepfather before finding out about Mona because of his emotional show on camera. She murdered Jonathan though, no doubt in my mind. As to motive, who knows and it doesn't really matter. There was evidence of a blowtorch being used in her apartment. Jonathan was found burned. Mona was in a relationship with the woman whose apartment Jonathan and his mom were stating at. Maybe Mona thought Jonathan's mom was trying to steal her girlfriend? I have to wonder if she sexually assaulted Jonathan, she mentioned he didn't have a shirt on which I found a strange detail for her to mention. I can't see her dumping the contents of the garbage can for a few bucks. She's lying. We'll hear more details like her blood on his jean jacket found n the garbage near her apartment. JMO

I remember all the evidence at her apartment just trying to figure out what the motive was, hired to kill for drugs or money? or a depraved act by herself or with an accomplice? Jealousy, revenge or a sexual predator?
Disturbing.
I hope the judge does the right thing.

Having zero motive to kill Jonathan is infinitely worse. She did it because she could. Then she lumbered around watching it all unfold until she dumped him.

There is no motive that will explain what she did.

Evil personified.

Step dad is an easy target since he is one of the links to her, right? Why would stepdad take Jonathan to Mona's apartment and kill him and make a huge mess killing him and then instruct her to dump the body?

And didnt Mona notice anything a little out of place in her home? Like blood and/or blowtorch marks?

:banghead:

Hi trying to follow this trial, first without tv coverage. I think of Laci and Conner too. I hope the get this woman good! The poor child. :seeya:

Just sharing my thoughts on motive. I agree we will probably never know for certain, but there are -- to my mind -- a few things we do know for certain that may provide glimpses into MN's psychology.

. Documented history of violence against romantic partner
. Documented history of violence against her adult child
. Documented history of violence against unrelated children
. "No shirt/someone else in the home" statement in reference to Jonathan

What I personally gather from these is, 1) she has a violent rage impulse, and 2) she sexualizes and demonizes the victim.

I forgot she hit a partner and her child.
This builds up a profile.
Rage, I can see rage.

Fair enough on the rage thing. I see sadism and opportunity. Like she got a bee in her bonnet and figured what the hey-she would give it a whirl.

I mean she hurt herself, IIRC. She burned herself too, right? I dont think that she had done whatever she did to him before with anyone else.

:(

IIRC, MN had been drinking with another maintenance worker for several hours before she made her way to Jonathan's apartment complex. I read the drinking buddy was a man from another complex, about mid-40s. I'd give my right arm to know what their conversations were like/about over the course of the day. I theorize she'd already been stewing about something for a long time. Add alcohol, no money, and a lonely Christmas.... ??? Why???

HOUSTON -
Angela Davis says the last time she saw her son, he was happy. It was Christmas Eve, 2010
.
Davis cried softly on the witness stand Wednesday as a prosecutor showed her the Christmas present she gave the boy the morning before he disappeared; a Scooby-Doo container filled with candy.

Snipped:

But prosecutors say phone records and witnesses statements prove David Davis was not involved in the murder.

Prosecutors will continue putting on witnesses Thursday. The trial is expected to last two weeks.
