TX- State vs. Nelson, Mona Yvette

DD was never Jonathan's step father, he just so happened to marry Jonathan's mother. Lets all not forget the reason Jonathan and his mother weren't staying with DD. Because after 3 weeks of Jonathan being there DD slapped Jonathan across the face. I praise Jonathan's mom in removing him from the home and choosing her child over that 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬. I never liked DD, I think there are things that happened that we will never know about that caused them to divorce, either that or Jonathan's mom blames him, had he not put his hands on Jonathan they wouldn't have been in the situation they were. I just wish that Jonathan's mom would have had her act together and realized a long time before she ever met DD that Jonathan should have been the most important man in her life. All Jonathan ever wanted was acceptance, to be accepted by his mother and know that she loved him no matter what she had done previously. I believe with all my heart that Jonathan died knowing his mother loved him! No matter how much anger, animosity, grudge I have I believe she did love him.

Wednesday was an emotional day in court as Jonathan’s mother took the stand.

Angela Davis fought back tears as she talked about the last time she heard her son’s voice, on Christmas Eve 2010.

Davis was on the stand for nearly two hours.

But the one main question that everyone has been asking was not answered: Why did this happen?

Nearly three years later, in the trial’s opening statements attorneys said there is still no motive for the killing.

Snipped:

It is not clear who all will be testifying in the trial, or if Nelson will take the stand.

This is a sad sad story. One which I am just getting caught up on. My heart goes out to the family of this precious boy. My grandson is the same age as Jonathan and my very soul is crying.......
I have looked everywhere for a live feed to the proceedings and can find nothing. Is there a link?
TIA

But it was the ominous phone calls from a mysterious woman, initially to the meat market where she worked as a cashier, that provided Davis' last contact with her son and a fleeting link to his abductor.

The woman, whom witnesses described as angry and using foul language, demanded Davis' supervisors put her on the phone. The mysterious voice demanded the telephone number of the woman leasing the duplex where Davis and her son were staying.

Threatening message

One meat market supervisor, Lois Sims, testified about a particularly threatening message the unidentified woman left: "If you don't get her (on the phone) now something's going to happen. He (her son) won't be here for long."

Sims tried to comply with her request, but the woman hung up. Davis made repeated calls home and got no response until she was nearly at her back door. She didn't recognize the voice of the strange woman who answered the phone. Davis asked, "Is Jonathan there? It's his mother, Angela." Davis heard the woman ask her son, "Is she your mom?

"Yes, ma'am," he said, and the line went dead.

All this for a woman's phone number???

I hv read there isn't enough intrest in the case for a live feed; then again I think it's gruesome; the crime is henious and may be too sensitive to cover online....maybe that's why there doesn't seem to be a live feed; although there IS footage from inside that court room. Someone is holding up a live feed on that I'm 100% sure. Why I dk. Could be ratings could be content.

TupeloMz, there is no "live stream" of this trial.

In Houston, TX (unlike FL), trials are rarely "live streamed." Most judges (Houston) do not allow "live streams" in their court room.

There is a "pool" camera man and "pool" photographer (Houston mainstream media). Video and still pictures are shared among the mainstream Houston media.

Being this is not "live streamed", the photographer and cameraman are not there all day. They may be covering several trials each day and they "come & go."

Some court rooms have "ports" (usually located by the entrance to the court room) used by the cameraman. They are not in the court room.

Some may be briefly set up in the court room near the jury box but can not film or photograph the jurors.

I've attended several trials in State District courts - Harris County, TX and the aforementioned is based on personal knowledge.

Hi, Cherry!

Where did you read that there is not enough interest for a "live" feed? Could you please Link? Thanking you in advance.

I am an active child's advocate in TX. There is tremendous interest in the Jonathan Foster murder and the Mona Nelson trial.

KHOU (CBS) stated Mary Gifford, Jonathan's maternal grandmother, and David Davis, Jonathan's stepfather, testified today.

Story/video not posted on their homepage yet.

Trial will continue tomorrow.

Neighbor Rita Jackson testified that she saw Nelson just before the child's disappearance and the day after wearing the same clothing.

Prosecutor: "And that white shirt, what did you notice on the front of that?"

Jackson: "It was dirty."

Foster's stepfather, David Davis, also testified Thursday. He admitted he's hit the boy's mother in the past, but he loved her son and never harmed him. He was ruled out as a suspect in this case after being questioned by police for 12 hours. He established his whereabouts the night the boy disappeared and is a key witness as the state continues to try and prove how Nelson is the only person who could've committed this crime.

I wish reporters would just tweet from the courthouse. I wonder if they told not to even though one reporter tweeted yesterday.

KTRK (ABC) - Houston, TX

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- On Wednesday, the mother of a little boy who was allegedly kidnapped and later turned up dead had to relive that day in court. On Thursday, Jonathan Foster's grandmother had to do the same.

In tears, Mary Gifford testified about Foster, her grandson, coming home to Texas after living with relatives in Mississippi and Missouri in 2010.

In a way I'm thankful it's not being shown live. Just reading the testimony breaks my heart, I can't imagine watching it.

The poor family. :(

Murder suspect points finger at victim's stepfather

By Cindy Horswell
Houston Chronicle - Houston, TX

The lawyer for Mona Nelson - accused of the 2010 kidnap-murder of a 12-year-old boy - sought to undermine the prosecution's case Thursday by pointing an accusing finger at the boy's stepfather.

From his opening remarks when the trial started, defense attorney Allen Tanner has described stepfather David Davis as "the one with a motive to kill the boy."

At the same time, prosecutor Connie Spence acknowledged in her opening that she would only be able to show how the murder defendant, Nelson, killed the boy but "not why" she did it.

Davis, wearing a memorial button with a picture of the murdered boy, took the stand Thursday and portrayed himself as being thrilled at having a second chance to become a father to a son at age 55. Especially, he said, since he'd already raised three daughters.
