What if the perp was on drugs? Prescription, legal or not, or otherwise. That would make the nonchalant body language and the way of walking down the halls (finger on the wall) make sense.
Postpartum depression is really horrible. One could ask for help from meds from their doctors. Meds don't always work the way you want and can have nasty side effects (exacerbating negative thoughts and feelings). Some meds that may be rx'd could be to calm someone down and relax (for ex. xanax). Postpartum psychosis is pp depression plus psychotic features. Hormones can really suck sometimes. Mix in depression +/- psychosis + 2 kids and a baby + husband out of town with potentially his mistress + meds = this could be a recipe for disaster.
