But what I'm saying is that if you saw for instance an ADT sticker on a commercial building, you'd need insider information or to test the system to actually know what that meant. ADT offers commercial fire alarm systems where a sticker could mean if there's a fire MFD would be notified or it could be combo fire/burglar alarm or alternatively it could be an old sticker that nobody bothered removing (I'm not seeing it as a crime or violation to display a sticker if a premises doesn't actually have one of those services) and conversely a sticker could have fallen off over time where nobody noticed. Actually it's a little cottage industry selling stickers only for people to put up stickers so it looks like some place has an alarm system. If I was planning to commit a serious murder, I would not rely upon what I saw on a window.
My SIL did this with a little fake sign in her flower bed. I always thought it would not prevent a determined person.
