We are not privy to the unpublished rest of the video. There may be additional captures possibly showing more "skin".

This is from the WFAA article earlier this month:

"For the first time Monday, Midlothian police also confirmed there is never-before-seen video from the church, but Johnson says those angles are not as clear and likely would not produce additional information to help identify their suspect or even their gender."

I don't see how it's possible to stuff a helmet and shoes to the point that you gain even an inch in height.

Here's what I don't get. Look at the church video, the one that is 2:11 long. At around the 1:10 and 1:30 are good angles of the suspect standing straight up next to a door or wall, with a frame or other object visible for reference.

LE could literally dress someone up in tactical gear and stand them in the exact spot and pose and record it from the same camera, then overlay the two stills.

Without using the fancy software and measurements that they say they used, they could use this other method and within an hour have it nailed down within an inch.

It just doesn't add up that they have no suspects, no firm leads, have asked for the public's help identifying from the video, yet can do no better than a 6-inch height range.

Maybe they aren't motivated to solve it? Think it's one of their own? or are friends with BB? I hope not. Or they KNOW exactly who it and waiting for them to slip up and blab to someone?

It's a common refrain - "they must know much more than they've disclosed... they're just putting the final pieces together, etc". And there can be validity to that especially early in an investigation. And six months is still kind of early, if you're taking the long view of things.

But the longer this goes on, the less validity that argument will have. Once we hit the one-year mark with no further public developments, the pressure will really be on LE to show more cards, if there are any to show. Lots of questions will demand better answers at that point:

Why so fuzzy on height?
Whatever happened with the Nissan?
What about releasing all the church video, and the 911 calls?

If they do have a strong POI, at some point they would leak something to point the public in that direction to increase pressure. But when they don't point us in a direction at all, they either have a really good idea who did it and just need some weeks or months to tie up loose ends, or else they truly don't have any idea.

And if I may add to your list. Why not up reward or extend reward, why not have family plead for clues, why not have her plentiful friend pool out posting flyers, taking to SM pleading for tips??? The only plausible reason I can think of are they know much more than they're telling the public. JMOO

Can you post a link to the interview where LE is asking BB to come forward w info? I don't recall that one. Thanks

Its on earlier threads. should be on media link. There's an interview he's giving and the news narrator says twice police are hopping something will trigger his memory or come forward with details. In it he's talking and avoids eye contact looks far away and says no one should be excluded, not even him.

My quick math tells me they've spent somewhere in the ballpark of $250K to $500K on this case already. I could be low.

Hind sight is 20/20 but makes you wonder if some level of immunity and a half a million $ would have gotten us a convictable suspect.

They probably have a very good idea - let's say 5'5". However, they don't want to be so exact in case they are wrong because it would create doubt in the trial. "You've said the suspect is 5'5" but my client is only 5'2". Isn't it possible that you've got the wrong person? Let me tell you about this other person that just happens to be 5'5"...." the defense lawyer will boom. It's the OJ glove.

So, they give a big range to eliminate that possibility but still give the public a good idea of the height of the person.

I am in DFW area and I just heard on the 4:00 news think it was CBS 11 that / anonymous donors contributed d $15K each bringing reward up to $50K.

I get that general idea. I do. But... they had previously said that they estimated the suspect to be between 5'-7" and 5'-9". Then Tarrant County did the video reconstruction and said they had a better idea of the height. Then they released the 5'-2" to 5'-7" range. So that's an 8-inch range that could encompass anything from a short woman to an average-sized man.

If I'm a defense attorney in the future trial, I would have a field day with all that. "Of COURSE my client fits your height profile; so does most of America!"

So let's say LE does have POIs on radar. They are keeping a very tight lid on the case ( understatement). Private donors increase reward for information leading to an arrest. Do we take this at face value and assume LE has no clue? Do we assume LE has a strong POI but can't say they don't need help
from the public? This news just adds more confusion to this case. IMO

I don't think it's murder for hire. I think it's purely targeted revenge. Either from afflicted person or once removed.
I don't think it's a woman anymore. I think it's a man. I think LE knows exact height just like the WSer algorithmed it BUT, I think LE released false height as a ruse to foster a sense of relief for SP. I also think LE saying it was a woman is a psychological strategy. I think they definitely know WHO, but like Sievers case playing it safe.

My theory on the reward is that LE has a known "playbook" that they go by. BB mentioned months ago that he knew some people who wanted to donate. I believe that LE said, "Now is not the time. There's already $20k out there so let's leave it at that for awhile. If it's still unsolved and we get to the six month mark, that will be a good time to help raise the visibility of the case by adding to the reward."

I think that at the one year mark, if it's still unsolved, the reward will be raised again.

The thing about this case is we really have no positive leads. Everything is maybe - a man or woman, height of 5'2" to 5'9", a Nissan they don't think was involved but was seen in the neighborhood hours before.

In a way it reminds me of the Dan Markel murder in Florida. It took almost two years for an arrest to be made there. However, we were given the type of car LE was looking for after a period of time. Which it turns out LE had on Video following Dan before the murder, after things started coming out.

For some reason, I don't have the feeling the local LE are pursuing Missy's case with the same enthusiasm and vigor that Tallahassee worked on Dan's case. I feel it is too small, everyone grew up with the prior generation, and the Southern good ole' boy club rules. JMO.

They could make that argument regardless of the range. LE could have said 5'5" and the defense could say there are 20 million people in the U.S. that are 5'5" and 8,000 in the 50 mile radius.

Height will be almost irrelevant at a trial unless it excludes the defendant. Prosecution will not get anywhere because the height matches unless they have a lot more evidence. "A bunch of other people also fit the height estimate" isn't much of a defense if there is a lot more evidence.

So, why did LE give the range they did? I think they wanted to convey to the public that this person is short. They didn't need any tall people tips.

Except 5'-7" isn't short for a woman, if the suspect turns out to be a woman. Since they were clear that they had no idea of the gender, the change from the first range to the second one served to eliminate most medium to tall men, but opening up the possibly for nearly any woman.

And our own resident websleuther who has quite a bit of credibility has said she comes up with more of a 5'-10". If she's right, the probability of a woman is very low, while If what LE is saying is correct, that probability is high.

So it doesn't really help the public help LE. Should we be looking for a woman or shouldn't we? If so, should we be looking for a short woman or an average one?

Personally I think both are correct. IMO 2 perps. One tall one shorter. I wonder sometimes if LE releasing that shorter ht range was maybe a message to the perp team as in "we Know" or, if they do have POIs on radar, maybe see if the perps react in some way. Overthinking I admit.

I think its two perps too. To me that is the only explanation for tge wide range of heights. The police want to send a message to the people responsible - we see past your disguise and we are closing in. They hope to shake them up thinking they will slip up and lead them to the gear or other evidence. JMO and I hope it worked!

So would I. I made another attempt, after these comments were published, to obtain the full video under the Open Records Act. Denied, again.
