TX - Theodore "Ted" Shaughnessy, 55, Killed In Home Invasion, Austin, 2 March 2018

I am at a loss for words...If it is true that these two are responsible for this horrific crime, I hope they rot in prison and NEVER see the light of day. This poor man had no idea that the son he loved was a scheming, pathological narcissistic murderer. Their FB pages are still up but nothing really of interest on there. Rest in peace, Mr. Shaughnessy. Great work by the Travis County Sheriffs.

This will be interesting. I wonder if the triggerman will be identified.

Grand jury indicts son of slain jeweler on capital murder charge

Somehow I missed learning about this case until I stumbled upon it today. Patricide is not a new crime by any means, but it always seems so difficult to comprehend. In this case, both parents were apparently supposed to be killed according to their only son’s plan. How devastating for this mother to lose her husband and essentially lose her only child as well.

"The grand jury did not take action on a pending case against Shaughnessy’s wife, Jaclyn Edison. She is accused of participating in the plot and is also charged with solicitation to commit capital murder."

"Edison is married to Shaughnessy’s 19-year-old son, Nicolas. Both face a charge of solicitation to commit capital murder."

A nineteen year old, married and could not wait for his inheritance.

Corey Shaughnessy: We were planning the engagement party. We had the guest list. Jackie was picking out invitations.

That's especially chilling, because while police initially had looked at all three for the murder, they now suspected just two — and that Nick and Jackie had also targeted Corey. But it was still only a working theory.

Jim Axelrod: You can't say anything to Corey?

Det. Paul Salo: No.

Det. James Moore: That — that's a hard line to walk.

Jim Axelrod: If you have two people who planned her killing now living with her, are you worried about Corey's safety?
