I'd suggest spending your money on The Purpose Driven Life over Olsteen's book, but that's just my opinion, lol. I find that pastor more legit, for some reason, and the PDL is right on the money, in my view.
you know as much as i read which is A LOT i should get that book, and i have a gift card to barnes and nobles, i was gonna take my son there tomorrow and let him get a book, i should get the PDL.......

I was just telling my mother that the other night i was watching joel and he was talking about how he hates negativity and he said you can even ask victoria i dont like to hear it, and i thought to myself, hmmmm i wonder what kind of woman she is.. I mean i only see whats on tv...It does seem though that when you are in the "spotlight" people look closer at you and she should try to remember that, these things could ruin his reputation, although i do like him alot....
Even before this incident, I have felt less than comfortable around her and how she acts. That being said, I hope no one will base their opinion of HIM by HER behavior, because that is just not fair. While he can try to encourage her to change, he can't force her. I think it is a personality trait with her. Some people THINK the world "owes" them something and that they are "special". Having this blown up imagine of themselves, they tend to treat those around them shabby. In layman's term....I believe we call it acting "snotty".

I can't judge her heart. But, she needs to realize that other people are just as smart, just as classy, just as worthy in the eyes of God. Also, we are ALL "special". IMO she needs to leave that condescending attitude at home when she goes out in public.
Maybe this is "proof" that opposites attract.

This incident with Victoria reminds me of a joke I heard.
A prima donna was on a plane when a male flight attendant asked her to put her tray up for the landing. She refused, and snobbily told him, "In my country I am a Princess, and you can't tell me what to do!" The flight attended responded, "Well in my country, I'm a Queen, which means I outrank you...tray up beyootch!"

I think that it is absolutely disgusting that the other passengers had to wait two hours for the Osteens' luggage to be found and removed from the flight.

The average person would not have had that courtesy. The luggage would have gone on to its destination and returned in about 24 hours.

The average person also would not have been allowed to take another Continental flight after such an incident, especially without being questioned for hours and/or arrested for disorderly conduct and more.

I've never even heard of the Osteens. In my opinion, after witnessing the Swaggart and Baker spectacles, the only tv preachers who have any sense at all are Billy Graham and Charles Stanley. I don't even have a clue whose Stanley is married to and Ruth Graham never put on airs. Maybe these other wives of televangelist super churches should look to them for guidance while they rake in the dough.

I understand safety but it seems they go a bit far in the leeway given to what amounts to a flying waitress.

When a plane ran off the runway in Toronto, "these" flying waitress had 1 minute to get everyone off the plane safe and sound. They saved lives, a bit more then a flying waitress........that term is extremely degrading and does a HUGE diservice to flight attendants. HAVE you ever looked into the training and education required for the job of "flying waitress". The staff of the plane, including support staff are responsible for your life when you fly.

Please..............

So some who remain with jobs get a bit snooty.

Really, I would think that they would be very grateful that they have jobs......they might seem a bit snooty because of what and whom they have to deal with. I have never had a snooty flight attendant, but then again I am respectful, considerate and polite and see their job as very important. I guess if I treated them in a "high" handed manner, I would receive the same in return.

I mean are they taught any skill in dealing with people?

Of course they are: The drunks, the drama queens, the demanding, the you are my personal servent, the get me now, the I don't have to listen to you, the assulter, the grabber, the give me special treatment person, the you do what I tell you to person. I am sure they "deal" with these people on a regular basis. They are part and parcel of the public.

How do you deal with a demanding diva that demands you drop everything and tend to her and won't listen to reason or delay her request.

Or just if you don't like them kick them off.. I can't recall the last time I was on a flight with a nice stewardess.

What to you mean by nice. If you are nice, then people will be nice in return. But if you see flight attenandats as "flying waitresses" then expect to have that view follow you in dealing and flights.

She was just abusive," said Sheila Steele, who said she was sitting behind Victoria Osteen. "She was just like one of those divas."

However, FBI Special Agent Luz Garcia said the Osteens were asked to leave the jetliner after an "altercation." She said Victoria Osteen "failed to comply" with instructions from the flight attendant. She added that no one was detained.

Steele said Victoria Osteen was upset about liquid on her pull-down tray and asked a flight attendant to have it cleaned. When the attendant, who was carrying paperwork to the cockpit, told her she couldn't do it immediately, Osteen replied, "Fine, get me a stewardess who can," Steele said.
She said Victoria Osteen pushed a flight attendant and tried to get into the cockpit. Passengers quoted in the Colorado paper did not address those details.

Soon after, authorities were called to the plane, she said, although it was not clear Tuesday whether they were airline officials.

So let me see: The "Diva" demanded that the flight attendant "drop" everything and tend to her needs, even though she was "busy" with her duties regarding the Captain and flight. Then the "Diva" assulted another flight attendant and tried to storm her way into the Cockpit. She was abusive and demanding and did not get an "immdiate" response, so she decided as a adult to act like a spoiled demanding child and then was asked to leave the plane.

What type of training would you think would be sufficient in dealing with this person, taking into consideration that she has delayed the flight for two hours and affected connecting flights, loved ones waiting at airports, schedules and all of the other passengers.

All because she did not get her own way.........she should be happy that thank god this did not happen while the flight was in the air and that she did not face criminal charges.

I have flown enough to have the utmost respect for flight attendants, it is the other passengers I wish I could get rid off. But I don[t have the funds for my own private plane.......just did not make it on the X-mas list this year or probably any other.

So who is to blame here: The Airlines for respecting the safety, security of all of their staff and passengers, or the "Diva" who acted in an abuisve, threatening, criminal manner.

Hummm, let me think about that for 1/2 a second.

The people who seem to expect the most and see flight attendants as "flying waitress" seem to have the most "trying" time when flying.

I am going to Zurich at the end of January...........

I agree with this.. I don't think he's a bad man either.. people make bad choices in life... he made some bad choices... Lord knows I've made plenty of them myself so I have NO ROOM to make judgements on anyone...

I also think that Billy Graham is the most honest, upright and honorable man on the evangelist circuit..

I think before you make such a negative statement about someone's profession you should know what you are talking about. My mother has been a Flight Attendant for 38 years and she still is flying today...and she is not a FLYING WAITRESS...she is not on that plane to wait on your ass, she is there to help & save your ass if needed. The serving of drinks etc is something extra they do while in the air, that is not their primary reason fro being on the plane.

Can you imagine what the flight would be like if there were no Flight Attendants on that plane to help passengers?? Can you imagine what it would be like if there was some sort of a problem on the flight people would panic and they are trained to help them get through difficult situations etc?

My mother in her 38 years of flying has not only served drinks.....she has saved 4 peoples lives and helped many people in different circumstances on he flights. It is hard job that is very demanding and keeps you away from your family and every time that plane takes off and lands is a chance for you to lose your own life.

I think any and every job that some one does in this word is IMPORTANT and thank everyone who does work and contribute as there are many in this country who do not work and our tax dollars pay to support them.

On more thought....they are not called Stewardesses...they are called Flight Attendants

Thanks for posting this, Misty. I have 2 SIL that have flown for TWA (now American) for years. When I get on a flight, I always look at the flight attendant and think about the time spent away from family (that part of the job is not glamorous) and the fact that flight attendant might be responsible for my survival on that flight, and that her life is on the ine every day. Then (and I do this always), I think about the flight attendants on 9/11 and the terror they went through.
That said, I always go out of my way to say hello when boarding, and thank you through out the flight and when disembarking. Some seem surprised at the kindness. I cannot think of a flight where the flight attendant has not stopped and lingered and visited a bit when giving us our drinks and snacks. When I have my daughter with me, they always go out of their way to visit with her and make her comfortable. And this are on the cheapo SW flights, too!!!
I hate with a passion flying and I put the flight attendant in my corner and it makes for a much better flight!!
