One year ago, a student brought a gun to the campus and shot another in the leg.

The Monday after the incident, which occurred in a classroom, students staged a walk out and said they did not feel safe at school.

With all the school shootings that have taken place and all the lives lost, I don't understand how a student can STILL get into a school with a gun, or a KNIFE... as in the Austin Metcalf murder case, or any weapon for that matter. Sad all the way around.

It's disgusting that we don't prioritize our children's safety in this country. I will never understand. How many threads have we seen on this subject? It's become the norm in our society and the shock factor is no longer there.

very few schools actually search for weapons on students. But you would think that since this school had a shooting last year, that they might be more vigilant.
