Has anyone seen an update on this case? I live about 20 minutes away. Not close enough to hear any local talk but having a young child myself it's tragic. I'm guessing if the person who was arrested is still receiving inpatient psychiatric hospital treatment then any details could take a long time to become public or in the press. Really upsetting no matter the details that a sweet toddler has lost her life

I had originally thought that it was probably death by drowning,but I am now wondering if the police are looking for a weapon and that Annabelle was severely injured before she was placed in the pond.

Mum admits killing her daughter, 2, found dead in a pond near her home

A mum has pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of her two-year-old daughter who died after she was found in a pond.

Alice Mackey, 42, admitted killing Annabel Mackey in Kingsley, Hampshire, in September 2023 at Winchester Crown Court.

The two-year-old went missing from her home in Hampshire on September 10 and was found unresponsive a short time later at Kingsley Pond.

She was taken to hospital in a serious condition but died the following afternoon.

Mackey entered a not guilty plea to a charge of murder, which the court heard was acceptable to the prosecution, as reports by two psychiatrists showed she was in a state of ‘diminished responsibility’ at the time of the incident.

Judge Christopher Parker KC adjourned the case for sentencing on October 6.

Mackey has been remanded into custody until then.

I would love to know more about how this came about, please has anyone found anything more out now that it's been to court?
IIRC, mum raised the alarm she was missing didn't she but now we knew she knew she was already dead in the pond? Incredibly sad.

Absolutely horrific to take your own child's life under ANY circumstances but "diminished responsibility" ..I wonder if mum was medicated/supported/under the MH team. So so sorry for all who loved Annabel, she sounds like a right little cracker
