A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the body of a missing teenager was found in a derelict building in Salford.

The 16 year-old girl was reported missing from her home in Prestwich at around 9:30am this morning (Monday) police said.

Twenty minutes later they were told that the girl had been found dead in a derelict building in Salford.

Sarah Goldman's body was discovered at 09:45 GMT on Monday in a disused building near Brookside Drive, Kersal.

Sarah had been reported missing only 20 minutes earlier from her home in Prestwich, Bury. A 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of her murder and later bailed.

The exact circumstances surrounding her death are still being investigated.

Sarah was discovered hanged by a member of her family inside a derelict building on Brookside Drive in Kersal, Salford, which is near to the family home.

The M.E.N. understands police have been told she was last seen at about 5.30am.

She is thought to have told her family she was going to school early to use the gym.

The empty property where Sarah was found is separated from the family home across a plot of rough land.

A 41-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of murder, but police have now confirmed that he's been released on bail pending further enquiries.

But despite the arrest, police said the investigation team was 'keeping an open mind' about the incident and were working to determine exactly what happened and how the teenager died.

I can't imagine people so young having such dark thoughts, obviously it happens, and all too often. So sad.

Wonder what lead them to believe that the 41 year old man was involved? And what if anything is his relation to the girl? Very sad outcome
