Evidence continues

As part of the investigation, Mr Campbell says officers contacted 'taxi companies they knew he [Mr Everett] had used'.

That included Mainline Taxis. Records show he booked a taxi which picked him up at his home address on Worsley Road at 10.32am on Monday, March 11 and dropped him in Eccles, the court hears.

Mr Campbell says that was part of Mr Everett's journey to visit his brother Richard Ziemacki. He says Mr Everett took a return journey from Eccles to Worsley Road on March 16, which dropped him back a 4.46pm.

Mr Everett sent his brother a message saying: "Just got back, two and a half hours late. Well done Rams…" The court is told that is a reference to Derby County FC.

His brother, the court heard, replied: "As long as you’re safe."

Jurors told of messages

The court is told that on March 20, Mr Everett messaged Mr Majerkiewicz saying: "There are price increases, there are next taxes, new bills for water, Talk Talk and council tax. It's not too bad. On the whole it means we must pay eight pounds each every month for the bills."

Mr Campbell says Mr Majerkiewicz forwarded the message to his ex-partner and the mother of his two children. She replied, the court hears: "Go early if you want and you won't have to pay."

The court hears Mr Majerkiewicz responded: "I don't think that's all, they also put the rent up." The court hears she replied: "Exactly."

The following day - March 21 - the internet history from Mr Majerkiewicz's phone shows a search for 'check if your landlord can increase your rent' through Citizen’s Advice, Mr Campbell says.

The day after, there was another search record 'get healthcare cover travelling abroad' through NHS Business Services, jurors are told.

Jury told details of phone records

The court is told a piece of CCTV footage from a branch of the TSB bank on March 26 was 'identified to be Stuart Everett'. The last piece of footage showing him alive was from Worsley Road the following day, Mr Campbell says.

That day, phone records show Mr Majerkiewicz spent £20.88 on a bottle of famous grouse whisky, onions and vine tomatoes, the court hears.

At 2.04pm, a phone call was made from Mr Everett's number to the Post Office and they are 'believed to have been made by Stuart Everett himself', Mr Campbell says.

At 5.26pm two calls were made to Swan and Mainline taxis, but they didn't hold any records for taxis booked by him, he adds. At around 5.40pm, Mr Everett's phone was said to have been in the vicinity of Morrisons in Eccles town centre, the court hears.

Mr Cambpell says Wi-Fi data shows Mr Everett's phone returned to the address some time between 6pm and 8pm. At 6.09pm, his phone was said to be using cell mast nearest to his home address, Mr Campbell says.

That 'would be consistent with him being there', he tells the jury.

At 8.30pm, there was a web search from Mr Everett's phone for the Wales v Poland football match on BBC iPlayer, the court is told.

"No one heard a commotion"

DS Holt is now being questioned by Peter Wright KC, on behalf of Mr Majerkiewicz.

Mr Wright says the Worsley Road address is a three-bedroom property which is ‘the end of a row of properties.’

He says enquiries were made amongst nearby residents as part of the investigation, and they saw ‘a skip arriving and property being removed from the property’ but that ‘no one heard a commotion.’

“Certainly no one told us they did” DS Holt says. “Not even the adjoining property” Mr Wright adds.

Mr Wright begins talking about Michal Polchowski, the third man who lived in the Worsley Road property.

The court has previously been told he booked a period of annual leave from work which ran from March 19 until March 29.

Mr Wright says: “When Mr Everett may have met his end, Mr Polchowski was present at (the Worsley Road address)?

“Yes” DS Holt replies.

The officer agrees with Mr Wright when he says that Mr Polchowski was a ‘very assiduous member of staff’ who ‘worked many hours.’

Mr Wright says Mr Polchowski worked at a ‘meat processing food business.’ “Yes” DS Holt replies.

“The tools of that trade include industrial quantities of cling film. That was an enquiry that was followed in this case?” he says.

“Yes” the officer replies.

“Mr Polchowski was arrested, and interviewed and he was held in custody and charged with the offence of murder, together with Mr Majerkiewicz? Mr Wright asks.

“That’s correct” says DS Holt.

“The investigation continued, over many months, mounting a case against both of them?”

“Investigating them, yes” the officer replies.

“He, Mr Polchowski, remained charged with the offence until relatively recently?”

“Yes” says DS Holt, with Mr Wright adding ‘as the jury have been told he’s not a witness.’

She confirms, after Mr Wright asks, that ‘it is the crown’s case that is the defendant, not Mr Polchowski, who is the perpetrator here.’

After further questioning by Mr Pitter KC, DS Holt says it was her team’s job ‘not just to focus on one person but look at everything’ including evidence which may ‘point to or away from a person.’

Asked if the decision relating to Mr Polchowski was her decision, she says: “No”, agreeing with Mr Pitter that it ‘taken by others more senior in conjunction with lawyers in the case.’

I've don that a couple of times already, but nothing happens. Perhaps I'm in the wrong time zone for the admins to notice my comments.

Is there no feature to tag an admin for a post that isn't yours (I'm very new to this website)?
