Detective Chief Superintendent Russ Jackson, head of the North West Counter Terrorism Unit, said: "We know that Abedi left the country on 15 April and arrived back on the 18 May and we now know from our enquiries that he purchased parts for the bomb after arriving back.

"What we still need to understand is if he had any of the bomb parts in his possession before he went out of the country, this is why we are tracking his movements so carefully.
This has led us to the Banff Road area in Rusholme."We have had police officers conducting house to house enquiries but we are still not satisfied why Abedi went there and its vital we understand exactly where he went there and who he spoke to in these final days before the attack.

"We need the public's help in this. If you have previously called and have information, I would urge you to call again. We need your help as we piece together what happened in the lead up to the attack and if Abedi was helped by anyone.

I understand they are still looking for the suitcase there is no mention of it being found yet.

Thats unusual they left that car reg visible isn't it?
Looks like LT or LY 05 WUW.

Can't recall if I read it here or elsewhere, that they know he bought enough to make 2 bombs but haven't found the components for the other. I assume this is why we went to "critical" and the NHS were on full alert last weekend. I also agree that is why the blue suitcase is so important - does it hold the second bomb?

Those people on Banff Road really need to be checking under their slightly-odd-teenagers-who-may-have-been-abroad-recently's beds. Meanwhile, if I see that blue suitcase I'm running.

U.K. police search car ‘significant’ to Manchester attack investigation

“We are very interested in anything people can tell us about the movements of this car, and who was in it, over the past months,” Detective Chief Superintendent Russ Jackson says.
LONDON—British police investigating the Manchester Arena attack cordoned off an area around a car significant to the investigation as they hunted Friday for clues about the suicide bomber’s movements.

Officers put a 100-meter cordon in place around a white Nissan Micra in southern Manchester.

Police were also interested in "who may have had access to the car or who may have gone to and from it."

As a precaution, people were being evacuated from the nearby Ronald McDonald House, which offers accommodation for families with children who are being treated in the hospital. A local hospital remained working as usual

SALMAN ABEDI 'MADE BOMB IN FOUR DAYS' AFTER POTENTIALLY UNDERGOING TERROR TRAINING IN LIBYA

Independent
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/u...g-militants-tatp-four-days-bomb-a7771391.html

Salman Abedi may have built the bomb that killed 22 people at the Manchester Arena in under four days, it has emerged amid reports he met Isis-linked militants in Libya.

Police said the attacker purchased parts for the bomb after flying back from the country on 18 May, while experts confirmed terror training would have enabled Abedi to build it in 24 hours.

(...)

Among the countless militias battling in Libya is Katibat al-Battar al-Libi, an Isis special operations unit whose operatives are said to have met Abedi during his visits to Tripoli and the coastal city of Sabratha.

A retired European intelligence officer told the New York Times that Abedi kept in contact with the militants after returning to Manchester.

(...)

Katibat al-Battar al-Libi was originally formed by Libyan jihadis fighting in Syria in 2012, and attracted Belgian, French and Tunisian foreign fighters.

Among them was the Paris attacks ringleader Abdelhamid Abaaoud, who was also linked to terror attacks at the Brussels Jewish Museum, the Thalys train attack and several failed plots.

(...)

Among the terrorists to have gone through training by affiliated fighters in Sabratha is the Isis gunman who killed 30 British tourists on a beach in Tunisia in 2015.

As do I, she's handled it with grace and maturity in a way many, many politicians cannot manage to do.

I knew something like this would happen though ... that she 'can't win' with the general public ... someone on my FB posted this same link, and then two people had added comments. One was "ugh, just PR, she should stay away" and the other was "can't believe she didn't do this two weeks ago when it happened, she doesn't care". I'm like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I wonder if the concert will still go ahead today (Sunday evening) in Manchester after the tragic and horrific events in London tonight.

"The explosive device used in the Manchester terror attack was ‘highly similar’ to bombs used by Islamic State jihadis in the 2015 Paris attacks and may even have been designed by the same person, The Mail on Sunday has been told.

The claim was made last night by security sources, who challenged the suggestion by Greater Manchester Police that pop concert suicide bomber Salman Abedi, 22, had largely acted alone.

And today's vehicle attacks on London Bridge and storming the restaurants, etc are reminiscent of the Paris attacks as well, imo.

I think it will. I hope it will. My husband told me no more travelling. I told him this just makes me want to go back to London even more. Like a middle finger to the terrorists. And to support Londoners with some tourist money.
