Galashiels man, 84, in court charged with murdering wife in home

Retired nurse John Hanson was arrested following the death of his wife Margaret at their home in Galashiels.

This is a truly sad story. I wondered why there were so many Police in Galashiels on Monday morning. He appeared in court yesterday charged with the murder of his wife in the early hours of Monday.

I do wonder if it was a case of the husband being unable to cope with caring duties for his wife and this murder happened in desperation? Are there any updates? Did he take his own life in jail?
