Missing: Abi Fisher, Castleford

Police are appealing for the public’s help to find a missing woman from Castleford.

Abi Fisher, 29 from Castleford was last seen at her home shortly before midnight last night.

It is completely out of character for Abi to leave home without telling her family where she is going.

Family and Police are extremely concerned for her welfare.

Anyone with information or who has seen Abi is asked to contact police via 101 or use the live chat facility at www.westyorkshire.police.uk/contactus quoting log 572 of July 9

On the basis of some FB comments she’s a mum to at least 2 little ones as well. Praying for this one not to be a postpartum depression/psychosis case..

Unfortunately this is a really sad update,

Detectives have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of a body in the search for missing Abi Fisher from Castleford.

The body was found in undergrowth off Southmoor Road, near Brierley, South Yorkshire, yesterday (Sunday, 10 July). The body has not yet been formally identified but is believed to be that of 29-year-old Abi Fisher. Her family have been updated and are being supported by specially trained officers.

A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in custody.

As part of their ongoing enquiries, officers are asking anyone with a dashcam fitted in their vehicle who has driven on the B6273 Southmoor Road between Hemsworth and Great Houghton between 8.15am and 9.15am on Saturday (9 July) to submit their footage to the police.

Detective Chief Superintendent Mark Swift, of West Yorkshire Police’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said: “On behalf of the police and Abi’s family, I would like to express our thanks to everyone who has assisted in the search for Abi. We know that there has been a real community effort to find her and that this update will be upsetting for many.

“The body has not yet been formally identified and we will update in due course when this has been confirmed.

“We are carrying out extensive enquiries and as part of that are appealing to the public to help us by providing any information that could help our investigation. We are particularly keen to hear from anyone with dashcam footage from Southmoor Road on Saturday morning and have set up a specific portal for footage to be submitted to.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact West Yorkshire Police’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team by using 101 Live Chat or by calling 101. Dashcam footage can be submitted via the Major Incident Public Portal at: Public Portal

I live close to where Abi went missing, unfortunately I couldn't help with the organised searches because of childcare issues.
I am devastated to see the development RIP Abi x

From what I saw from a family members post, they had a timeframe of between midnight and 9am!
Police have also been asking local residents for CCTV and for all of the exit routes by car from the area. I think they knew this was suspicious from early on.

Oh, no. Poor Abi. RIP.

8:15 to 9:15 is an awfully specific request. They definitely have a clue what happened, where, and when.

I found it sad then suspicious how little people shared that post.

Edited my post, it seems people on said post know who has been arrested for it.

Been out of phone reach all day. This is a sad turn-up :(

I thought if she was found deceased it would be 'not suspicious'.

And a baby without a mother now. Dreadful.

I can't post on here because it has not been officially confirmed and can't link my source but it seems the word has gotten out socially who has been arrested. That poor, poor baby.
