The population of scotland is not as big as england, with less crimes, so scotland does not need as many prisons

Hahaha you and me both. I have about 5 twitter pages open on Connor Gillies, james Matthews and Fraser knight, a live trial update with the mirror and my websleuths page open. This has really taken over my life.Seems to differ from day to day. Lucky I’m on maternity leave just now so I can keep up to date with the twitter updates.
Thanks for sharing this perspective, it reinforces to me what an all round sad situation this is. Either his Mum is scared for her safety and needs the uncle/friend there to make sure it doesn’t kick off, or they are having a VERY honest and sad conversation with her son about what they know the truth actually is and are working out some kind of story about what the next steps are and advice how he should handle it.Near the end of this article is the write-up of the mother's testimony.
Pathologist 'had never seen anything like' injuries found on body of Alesha MacPhail | Daily Mail Online
I'm struck that when she's talking to her son about the CCTV and DNA she has "his uncle and a friend" present. Did she do this to say how bad things looked for him and give himself up. Did she want reinforcements for protection if he lost his temper? I think that she mentioned the DNA to him is more like "the jig is up" and you're not going to get away from this. Just My Opinion

I am reminded of something the Chief Superintendent said at the Press Conference on July 3 last year
We are working with a number of partner agencies during this inquiry including local authorities and health boards.
Alesha MacPhail: Family 'utterly devastated' as police launch murder investigation

I agree! 100%Thanks for sharing this perspective, it reinforces to me what an all round sad situation this is. I think the fact he has said no comment in the police interviews is interesting, many people do this to put the burden of proof onto the prosecution, so it’s quite a strong 16 year old that can continue to do this under pressure.
I have never believed that she shared the CCTV with the police to ‘eliminate’ him from enquiries, erm, how exactly does it do that. It does nothing but incriminate him, and she must have known this. There’s no way you would ever start talking about DNA unless you knew deep down that he was guilty. I can only imagine that was a horrific conversation. And credit to her for sharing the CCTV.

Hi there, yet another lurker here (from back when this case was just a 'Missing Child' one...). Wanted to comment on this a couple days ago, but had to wait for the account to be checked up first. I believe the pathologists have already established that Alesha has either died at her home or on the former site of the Kyle's of Bute Hydropathic Hotel. Regarding the clean-up, however, I was under the same impression. He leaves home fully clothed and with shoes on. Allegedly (and I only say this because it is all MOO and also he has not as of yet been proven guilty beyond a doubt) the suspect takes poor little Alesha from her home one way or another and avoids cars/other people by walking (or running) on the shore. Then he carries her to where she was later found, where he IMO discards his jacket and possibly other clothing and proceeds to rape and murder her. Leaves the woodland, quickly goes back on the shore and washes himself and maybe the hoodie up in the water. He leaves the latter behind. I think this is also the moment he threw the knife away, as he had no need of it anymore and he was possibly in a state of adrenaline rush and, possibly, still a little bit drunk with power and wine and/or Mad Dog 20/20. This would definitely account for the brief amount of time spent in the shower (3.35 am to 3.44 am) when he returned to his house for the first time. The bathroom light came on, as other users suggested, for a mere minute - just to double check there were no visible traces of dirt, blood, etc and possibly quickly clean up his shoes. It would also explain why he went back out for seven minutes with no shoes on - they were still wet - and he was trying to avoid leaving shoe prints. Dressed up only in shorts with what I believe were the compacted/rolled up joggers and underwear he quickly made his way to the shore and attempted to discard them thinking that the tide will do the rest. The third time he went out with the torch he had shoes on, but there are no other accounts for another shower which supports the mother's confusion and distraught at his dirty feet/soles she noticed that morning and the nightly CCTV captured wanderings. All JMO, hope it makes sense to others and it's more than just the ramblings of a very invested newbie.Just a thought, but maybe he committed the whole crime on the beach, washed blood in sea and when he had shower, was to remove salt water, just a thought
I very much doubt that anything much will come out after the case about his background and family situation but I really hope it does as I have a few things I am quite curious about, particularly in regards to who he lived with.
It shall be interesting to see if the defence at the end come out with the accused already being diagnosed with some mental health issue such as a form of autism, what would be the sentence outcome be in such a situation
This is precisely why I would NEVER be without a dog in a family home. Humans are not very good at hearing noises in the dead of night, but woe betide the accused if he broke into my house! My Labrador would raise the dead with his bark and although not aggressive he certainly sounds it when startled! No intruder would take a risk when then hear a barking dog on a property.
If he is found guilty does that mean he would end up in a hospital rather than a prison ?I did think autism when I first viewed his videos
what was it specifically that made you think that?I did think autism when I first viewed his videos
Doesn't he live with his mother and his younger sister? That's what seems to be the general consensus in the mainstream media. There's been no mention of his father whatsoever. so I don't think he lives on the island. There was also the apparent relative with dementia who lived with them for a short period of time, but not at the time of the murder.
Not sure where it says two bedroom but it was two floors in upper flat (1st floor and roof floor )and ground floor is seperate holiday flat.So the house alesha was in is it two flats upstairs does the son rent the flat next door to the dad. I cannot for the life of me understand how she was in her room as was dad and grandad but it’s only a two bed flat. ?
A ' shorts set' is an alternative night wear option to buyVest, pants and shorts is pretty typical nightwear for a young girl in the summer I’d say.
