This whole case has been hard to deal with - from that day in July. The trial has had a profound impact on a few of us I'm sure... I know I've burst into tears a few times in the last week, I'm sure I'm not alone. Poor Alesha. :(

It's been disturbing, and knowing the area quite well it will be weird traveling back through the area, seeing all the locations involved.

I understand the logic behind regular posts that play devil’s advocate after every single piece of evidence but I don’t think that’s necessary for this one. This form of DNA evidence is the smoking gun in this case, the one thing that just can’t be explained away.

The only other explanation offered is so ridiculous and unlikely that reasonable doubt isn’t even a factor. The jury aren’t going to say ‘well I guess this story about Alesha’s father’s girlfriend framing the accused with a condom might have happened, despite hardly any evidence to suggest that was remotely possible, I guess we’ll have to find him innocent.’

yep,, and add the kitchen knife from the mom's house, video footage of him coming and going (none of Toni) and clothing fibers. I feel confident the prosecution will win. But as always....remains to be seen.

Witness says DNA matches found on 14 seperate areas of Alesha’s body. He agrees it’s “highly unlikely” this DNA was “transferred through a third party”

bbm

That’s basically it right there.

There’s almost no doubt in my mind now that he will be found guilty, unless the defence have something spectacular up their sleeves. Which judging by the ridiculous fantasy offered at the beginning of the trial, they don’t.

What a tragic case. I’m not sure I’ve ever read anything more upsetting or horrific.

And for anyone who wants to quote that he’s innocent now, shame on you. That poor girl what she went through at the hands of this MONSTER. Thanks for all the twitter updates, I really couldn’t bare to quote them today.

‘We already know he was a regular buyer of drugs from Alesha’s father. How do you know he wasn’t just playing around with her the day before and left DNA?’

I’m honestly surprised we haven’t seen a reply like this to this evidence. Some of the reaching by other users during this trial has been ludicrous.

Even though I knew all this info was going to come out it’s still made me feel really sad this morning. Like it’s hit me hard reading it all

Me too. It's horrible. The prosecution have given a strong case though and did what they had to do, so that's better than leaving any doubt I suppose even if it meant having to air out all the graphic details.

I don't know. There have been many that I expected to be killed or seriously harmed by now but haven't.

This is also true. But it was also mentioned before about the accused being suicidal so if someone else doesn't get to him then maybe he himself won't be able to cope in prison. Who knows. Probably something I shouldn't be speculating about anyway.

Samples taken from within Alesha’s room did not have any DNA attributable to the accused boy, but it did have traces “unsuitable for interpretation” because they were so small.

If one is wearing gloves can finger/palm prints still be left behind?

'No positive DNA matches' in Alesha's bedroom

There were “no positive” DNA matches found in the bedroom of Alesha’s home, the court heard.

There were no traces found on the light switch or bedroom door, jurors were told.

Accused boy's semen 'found on Alesha MacPhail's body'

Hopefully he can’t use that as defence as he has already said he had never met her

I really don't know if he's going to survive prison. I know it's probably not something we should be speculating about but he'll definitely need to be segregated and kept under watch.
He’s not your common o garden teenager. He’ll be fine and dandy, I’m sure. Maybe this is why he’s pleading innocence...knows he’s banged to rights but can use his baby face and sly ways to try and convince the prison population it was all one big set up. Perhaps his innocent plea is more about self preservation than convincing a jury.

Because he hadn’t met the girl. Ludicrous / horrendous / evil is what happened to her at the hands of this MONSTER yes.

I'm new here but have been following for a few days. This has to be enough to convince a jury surely? I couldn't imagine a world in which this could be not proven. His DNA is present on the girl in places that fit with how her injuries and consequent death were inflicted. Coupled with everything else it's hard to see how there could be doubt now.

I've never been this affected by a case in my life. Things like this seriously test your resolve when it comes to introduction of the death penalty, that's for certain.

Is anyone aware of what kind of sentence he is likely to receive if found guilty? I'm unsure of how these things work at the best of times and in particular because of his age.

Mr Bailey also says he could not determine how the semen got there. He says it could have been via intercourse but it's also possible a third party planted it.

He says DNA matching the 16 year old boy accused of raping and murdering Alesha MacPhail was found on 14 different areas of her body. He says because of the volume and spread across the child's body it's "highly unlikely it was transferred via someone else"

I wonder if he thought his hoodie story would explain the trace DNA transference (it doesn't as far as I can see).

Please tell me you are at the wind up?

Can’t quite believe it either tbh. Like her family aren’t going through enough without the likes of comments like this.
