So,no skinning cats or carrying a knife, what about the rumours of sexual assault, firestarting, staring people down on buses etc, trying to drown a girl when he was 6 or 7 etc?
Sorry for all the questions!!

From what I gather there was an incident in the pool years ago kids being kids but think it’s been highly exaggerated for the newspapers

Hmm this is what I thought at first as well. I think in hindsight though it can look more sinister to people.

Again with the questions lol, were you shocked when he was arrested?,can you understand why Toni said she had a bad feeling about him and if it is true, why people were messaging her pointing the finger at Aaron?,did you have any doubt that they had arrested the wrong person at all?
Thankyou for being here and letting us bombard you!!

Yeah, and newspapers being newspapers will print anything.

It must be really hard for the children who knew him and grew up with him to try and get their heads around this.

I wouldn’t of expected it to of been AC and all through the trial I had him as innocent , obviously till the DNA part
He was a marmite kind of kid u either liked him or you didn’t

Was there any other suspects on the island prior to AC's arrest? It must've been hard for people who thought he was innocent then realised he wasn't.

@Deano saunders
Hello and welcome to the thread. In case you haven't noticed, you're our new best friend :D;)
It helps so much to have someone with real local knowledge and opinions. Thank you

I didn't see him interact with them honestly, but then I didn't see him very much. He was trying to keep to himself I think. When I first walked in he was over in a corner. The times I did see him he looked very lost. I felt awful for him. I don't think he really knew what to do with himself. He was comforting Toni though when she started crying.

He’s the one I worry about the most. I think Genie is much stronger and mature , and she has her other little girl. She’s also said she’d like to start a charity in Aleshas name , that will give her focus and something positive to work with. I’m sure we’ll be hearing much more from genie in the coming years...another Sarah Payne or Diane Lamplugh.

Rab, I’m not so sure. He looks a lost soul. Probably blames himself , though he shouldn’t. Guilt is a horrible thing, especially through grief. It’s obvious he’s been a constant dad throughout Aleshas life and she was his only child. One thing which stands out with this case is just how much she was loved. She spent an incredible amount of time on that island and the macphails were intent on keeping it that way. Their weekends and the school holidays must feel so empty and lonely without her.

I really hope that one day in the near future he will be able to take heart from that, just how loved and happy Alesha was, those short years were filled with love and happiness and her beautiful smile looked as though it could light up a room.I really hope Rab finds that light shining on him now.

Hi Deano, thanks for joining. I don't mean to play devils advocate here, that's not my intention. However, you don't always know somebody as well as one might think. There's countless times one has been convicted of a heinous crime where people are in disbelief and don't actually know what the person has been up to.

Of course rumours spread and i'm sure some (maybe all) of them aren't true but what i'm saying is there must have been a build up to what he did.

Yes was shocked when they arrested him - when TM dragged in a lot of people could believe it .
He has since admitted his guilt though and TM is innocent ,

From an outsiders view ( not family connected ) I struggle to see any build up he was just being him camping , partying etc .. a very very clever boy academically

Tbh, I did wonder if this incident had been zuped up a bit. He was very young then and kids do muck about a lot , especially in water. The holding head under water bit is worrying though but then is that what actually happened ? It’s the latter stuff that holds a bit more weight imo, where on earth did the skinning cats come from ? The alleged sexual assault and various other concerns ? AC did say himself that everyone blames him for everything. Why ? There’s just to much out there to dismiss him as a regular kid.

There’s usually a reason why the term marmite is used, not always a bad one but a reason none the less

Don’t know if I agree with this going by his grammar on some of the texts we were given snippets of. Maybe maths but certainly not literacy.

Didn't I read his mum said he failed his English exam?
