After being sworn in as the first defence witness Campbell said he had lived on Bute since the age of four or five with his parents and younger sister.

A previous police statement shown on the court screens confirmed he was born in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, on 7 May, 2002.

His father Christopher, 42, was a supervisor in the oil industry and often worked away from home.

Oh, interesting! That seems more accurate, especially with it referencing the police statement. So it probably is May 7th then.

Haha but yes I'm not sure I'm buying his dad being 42 though.

Reporter Katie Glass gives an overview on what it was like to cover the case:

"One journalist was mocked on social media for describing how attractive he was — “handsome, in a modern, metrosexual way”. But in truth I was also struck by how he looked. It seemed unimaginable that this plausible, well-presented young man, whose mother described him as clever and well liked, could have committed such a heinous crime. I wanted to believe it was impossible. The other option was too terrible to contemplate."

"When a forensic scientist gave crucial DNA evidence, he clasped his hands to stop himself shaking. At times, the judge asked the jury if they were OK to go on. I often thought I might leave.

The boy, by contrast, was the calmest person in the room. Impassive, his eyes casually flicked back and forth between the barristers and witnesses on the stand. His face never betrayed interest, horror or shock."

He described his ordinary teenage life on the island — girlfriends, camping trips, parties with friends. It's so hard to put the funny little boy in the you tube videos with this cold killer. Think that's why so many find it so hard to get their heads around but doesn't sound like there can be any question he did it.

Remorse doesn't come easy to an immature teenager in the least of things -acting out like a small child "I didn't do it someone else did" Then there's this!
I have every reason to think that he will be declared insane when he's 18.

Haha, see I actually thought he came across better than a lot of YouTuber's funnily enough. He seemed fairly polite and articulate (especially for a young teenage boy). Maybe it's just because I'm into similar gaming stuff and I've been a fan of YouTube pretty much since it began but I've said before what struck me when I first watched his videos - or rather read his comments - was how seemingly friendly and nice he was. But I can see what you mean.

I didn't find that. I thought he was polite, friendly, animated and dare I say ...cute. Huh.
One thing I did pick up on - on the two videos with a few years in between, was a fixation on view count and numbers but then maybe that's a normal thing for kids to look for on youtube. He's supposed to be good at maths as well according to his mother.

me too, when i first watched his YouTube it made me start to wonder if he was telling the truth about Toni, even though it was just so far fetched but it made zero sense seeing how normal he was, i thought no way this boy brutally raped and murdered a 6 year old.

Thats the worst part and why im still really interested in this case i guess. it makes you realize that dangerous people are hiding among us in plain sight, and thats just completely chilling.

I felt he was quite arrogant and self indulgent but yeah only in the cutey way you'd expect from a child! don't know who else saw the one when back from his holiday and joked several times about having no friends and no-one liked him with the fake sad face. My little boy often acts similar and I always giggled before but now don't like it when he does it. Not sure to tar them with the same brush though, he's nothing like that boy!

I never seen that video but i know what you mean, my youngest does the same thing. I can laugh because i know mine isn't a killer.
