Was just discussing this earlier and thought you would be the person to ask !
If he goes to the youth facility / prison until age 21 ? would he go there on the basis of the Judge saying, you stay there until 21 and then, after that time, your ongoing sentence will be determined ?
Or will the Judge give him the full sentence straight away

No, whatever sentence he receives now will run concurrent so in 4 years when he turns 21 the SPS will decide what prison to send him to and the rest of his sentence will be carried out there. There is Edinburgh, Barlinnie, Shotts, Grampian (prev Peterhead), Glenochil and Addiewell to chose from. Barlinnie or Shotts would be the best place for him to be terrorised daily..

I don't think think a totally staged entertainment show is a good example.

However I once slept through a massive house fire a few doors down from me. Didn't hear a thing even though there were people jumping out windows, lots of fire engines etc.

You're right it IS staged but I definitely believe that the 'victims' don't have a clue and are genuinely startled on being woken my Michael.

However like you ... I can sleep through a LOT so long as it's not a baby crying or the threat of a person vomiting ... THEN I'm on my feet swiftish!

This is embarrassing, Scottish police are rookies. I was due to give a statement for a friend who’s partner assaulted her and they called me up to give them directions to my house because neither of them could figure out how to use their satnav, they were no older than 22/23.

The debate (which i really did not intend to spark) about and violent sexual offending is for me one that will always exist.

As a youth of the early 90s if i had wanted to access ...yes there were ways and means ..however none of those involved having access to such a vast array of the stuff which i could summon at the click of a button.
My adolescent dabblings never exceeded a copy of mayfair, purchased from the local 24hr garage (when the elderly woman behind the counter would always "tut" and display her total disdain!)

Childhood is rapidly becoming a thing that terminates at the teenage years..,but now we have teenagers who are more sexually aware than my generation ever were.
16 year old boys now know far more about the big wide world than we did.

The issue with psychopaths is a complex one...yes we have always had them and yes not all will violently rape and kill...but they will all do things with only the affect it has on themselves taken into consideration.

Our society never spots a psychopath until its too late...and even then it rarely knows what to do with them.

The poster who said that a psychopath is a volatile mixture just awaiting ignition was 100% correct...,and some manage to get through life without igniting....but then again some crocodiles never eat anyone...but i still would not wish to bathe with one!

As a society we must learn more how to properly deal with this type of person and preferably Before they go boom.

We really need to stop having to watch cases like this one unfold

Your not wrong. Although I seriously thought little Mikaeels mother (loosely) would have been terrorised in Corton Vale woman’s prison but there were news reports of her be-friending the top dogs. Popular inmate it would appear even though she killed her son albeit accidently hid him in the boot of her car drove to fife and discarded him in woods behind her parents house. Not the kind of friend i’d want.

Problem is he will be placed in a wing with other peodophiles, child killers.

There is zero chance of him getting through a prison sentence without anyone knowing who he is.
Keeping a secret in prison is impossible...they say "a secret is only a secret until 3 people know"....well right from the off every guard in that prison will know.

Also...im not scottish,ive never been to rothesay and i know nobody involved in the case....but i do know the identity of the guy in the dock!..,so this type of thing has a strange habit of spreading whether they want it to or not

If so, in Scotland, is it customary to publish a sex offender's name and whereabouts and nature of the sexual crime, as well as what level of a sex offender they are, as is the case in the US. ? tia

Just adding this bit of info again, as this report gives a timing - though whether it is when the knife was found, or the time he began the search, not sure. But shows it was found quite quickly.


A coastguard volunteer tells the court he found a knife on the beach as he searched for the missing girl.

Peter Morrison, 39, was called out to carry out a shoreline search at 6.55am,

Opposite the house where Alesha had been staying, he says he found “what looked like a kitchen knife”.

He says, from his knowledge, the blade could have been in the sea and ended up lying on the shore due to the receding tide.
